What will you study in Y10 Media Studies?

• Study music videos and how they represent gender and power.

• Study the music industry and how CD covers are produced (leading to a production piece).

• Study short films and research, plan and make your own.

• Study horror films and research, plan and produce your own.

• The final exam in Y11 is in 2 parts – Action Adventure and TV Sit Coms.

• Use correct terminology • Analyse moving and still images • Write analytical essays • Use video cameras • Edit – with titles, effects and sound • Research • Evaluate • Be active in the media • Show an interest in all aspects of the media • Understand how processes work • Be able to work in groups • Use Photoshop

Once you’ve done that, start to think about what these different things mean. E.g. • Low-cut top = sexy, appeals

to men, aspirational to women

• Tuxedo = wealthy, important, smart, aspirational to men
