    II. MY FAVOURITE FESTIVAL - DIWALI

    Diwali is an Indian Hindu festival celebrated every year in the month of

    October or November. According to Hindu calendar, the festival falls

    on the new moon day in the month of Kartika. It is an auspicious

    festival celebrated with great enthusiasm all over the country. It is the

    festival of lights. The celebration starts few days ahead of the Diwali

    day with crackers and sweets. Diyas and crackers are kept in every

    home and people enjoy this festival. Diwali marks the death of evil man

    Ravana, killed by Lord Rama. It is considered as the day when good

    succeeded the evil.We wear new clothes early morning after taking oil

    bath. All the shops and markets are decorated with lights. Everyone

    light candles, lamps, and diyas in their homes. People worship Lord

    Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi on this day praying for good wealth,

    prosperity and fortune. Diwali brings happiness to the hearts and makes

    relationships grow closer.
