    No previous experience required. Aptitudefor working at height.Physically and medically fit.Minimum age of 18 years.

    5-day training course in rope access.Independent IRATA assessment.

    LEVEL 1

    ROPE ACCESS TECHNICIAN

    Capable of performing a range of activitiesunder the supervision of a level 3.Responsible for own personal rope accessequipment.

    Minimum of 12 months and 1000 hours ofwork experience in a variety of tasks as alevel 1 rope access technician.Physically and medically fit.

    5-day training course in rope access,rigging & rescue.

    Independent IRATA assessment.

    LEVEL 2ROPE ACCESS TECHNICIAN

    Capable of rigging ropes and undertakingrescues, including hauling, under thesupervision of a level 3 rope accesstechnician.

    Minimum of 12 months and 1000 hours ofwork experience as a level 2 rope accesstechnician. Physically and medically fit.Appropriate first aid certificate. Writtenrecommendation from an IRATA membercompany or assessor.

    5-day training course in advancedrope access techniques, rescue,equipment examination andlegislation.Independent IRATA assessment.

    LEVEL 3ROPE ACCESS TECHNICIAN

    (SUPERVISOR)

    Capable of site supervision for rope accesswork projects.Comprehensive knowledge of advancedrescue techniques.Conversant with relevant work techniques &legislation.

    Independent IRATA re-assessment every three years at all levels, following a minimum of two days of refresher training*.

    Rope access technicians not engaged in rope access work for six months or more, should attend refresher training*.

    *Any level rope access technician undertaking re-assessment after the expiry of the current assessment would require a minimum of four daysof training instead of the two days. Holders of expired level 2 or 3 certificates or others with questions should contact an IRATA trainingcompany for information on revalidation procedure. To ensure technicians are up to date with certification, re-assessment may be done up to 6months before due expiry date without any time penalty.
