CCAAMMEERROOOONN,, Cameroon covers the surfacearea of 475,442 km2 and has aunique heritage in tourism. Ge-ographically, the country is bor-dered on the north by the SahelRegion, extends south-east to theforest of the Congo, and south-west towards the Atlantic Ocean,offering a spectacular landscapeof pristine forest (22 millionhectares and is the second inAfrica), savannas, steppes,plains, mountains, rivers, lakes,beautiful sandy beaches with adiverse fauna.

Located on the Gulf of Guinea,at the junction of West and Cen-tral Africa where the WestAfrican and Congolese geologi-cal plates intersect, this line ofintersection of geological platesis bordered by a range of moun-tains with, among others, theManengouba Mountains, MountKupe and Mount Cameroon thehighest peak in central Africa, onthe western coast of the conti-nent. This mountainous range,which is called «Cameroon Line»stretches from mountEtindi(small mount Cameroon)to the West Highlands, North-west and the Adamawa plateauof Cameroon. The other placesare located below the plains andbasins of low and medium alti-tudes.

Cameroon offers to tourists vir-tually every variety of landformsand climates represented inAfrica. Cameroonian wildlife isvery rich, there are 409 differentspecies of mammals, 143 speciesof reptiles, 849 species of birds,190 species of amphibians, etc..,all grouped in multiple nationalparks, fauna reserves and hunt-ing areas. Protected areas inCameroon cover an area of4,551,990 hectares of national

territory and are relayed by a go-rilla sanctuary and three zoosthat offer a view of the localwildlife.

This makes it an ecologicallyrich land suitable for eco-tourism, where the discovery ofgorillas, elephants and buffaloesin the forest or wild animals inthe savannas are moments ofgreat emotion. The tourist resorton the Atlantic coast, tourism innatural forests, cultural tourismin villages and traditional chief-doms and rural tourism in majordomestic and industrial planta-tions, find a conducive environ-ment rich in activities in thiscountry (fishing, swimming,trekking, safaris, craft work-shop,).

Cameroonian territory includesmore than 200 ethnic culturesand folklore of great variety; it’sa real melting pot of people andcultures. The country is indeedat the crossroads of ancient mi-gration routes of the Sudanesepeoples, Bantu and Fulani. Sowe find a variety of ethno-cul-tural and people present inAfrica, who gave birth to aneclectic craft and traditional ar-chitecture that varies with im-pressive sculptures, architecturaldesigns and styles of each re-gion. The same is true of theirreligious and cultural practices.
