Dr. Moon to Receive 2012 Palumbo Award Congratulations to Dr. Richard Moon who has been selected by a distinguished faculty committee as the 2012 Leonard Palumbo Jr., MD Faculty Achievement Award recipient. Dr. Moon was nominated by Dr. Tong J. Gan. The Leonard Palumbo Jr., MD Faculty Achievement Award, established in 1999, recognizes a member of the School of Medicine faculty who displays dedication to compassionate patient care and excellence in the teaching and mentoring of young physicians. The award will be formally presented to Dr. Moon by Dean Nancy Andrews at the annual Spring Faculty Meeting, which will be held at the Doris Duke Center of the Duke Gardens on May 2, 2012 from 5:00-8:00pm. Practice Guidelines are subject to revision as warranted by the evolution of medical knowledge, technology, and practice. They provide basic recommendations that are supported by a synthesis and analysis of the current literature, expert and practitioner opinion, open forum commentary, and clinical feasibility data. Abstracts may represent original clinical, laboratory scientific or case reports. Submission to other scientific organizations (e.g. ASA, Gulf Atlantic Residents’

Conference) does not preclude acceptance. In fact, we encourage submission of abstracts that have been submitted to national

meetings such as the ASA.

Abstracts must be no more than one page (8.5” x 11”) including diagrams and tables.

All abstracts submitted will be accepted for presentation. The Abstract Selection Committee will choose a set of abstracts to be judged for prizes.
