A Primary Election will be held on May 4, 2010 in Un-ion County, North Carolina. Voters will be voting on Federal, State, County and Judicial seats. Polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. Democrats must vote a democrat ballot, Re-publicans must vote a re-publican ballot, Libertarian must vote a libertarian bal-lot and Unaffiliated voters may choose Democrat, Re-publican or Libertarian. If a Second Primary is needed unaffiliated voters must vote the same Party as in the First Primary Election.Absentee ballots are al-lowed. Requests for an ab-sentee ballot must be made in writing and re-ceived in the Union County Board of Elections office by 5:00 p.m. on April 27, 2010. Absentee mail in vot-ing begins on March 15, 2010 and ends at 5:00 p.m. on May 3, 2010. The Board of Elections meets to ap-prove absentee ballots on April 13, 20, 27 and May 3, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. The Board will also meet on Fri-day, May 7, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. to approve any absen-tee mail in ballots that were postmarked by May 4, but received not later than three days after the elec-tion by 5:00 p.m.All residents of Union County who are registered to vote with the Union County Board of Elections may vote in this election. Voters who previously reg-istered need not re-register for this election. Those res-idents who are not regis-tered to vote must register on or before April 9, 2010 in order to be eligible to vote on Election Day.
