rubberised soft-fall. A new piece of equipment has been added to the Rainbow Playground in place of the yellow metal spiral climbing frame which was damaged in the removal of the old soft fall.
The installation of our updated security cameras will be completed by the end of this week, thank you to Mrs Walsh for her work in organising this important project.
Next week we will conduct the first activity of our Transition to School program with a Readiness for School Evening on Thursday September 16 at 7.30pm. The evening will be conducted by myself, Ms Garrity, Mrs Pearson (Foundation Leader) and Mrs Lawrence (Early Childhood Educator). We will discuss the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF) and how it supports a smooth transition from pre-school to school and specific information about the transition to school program at POPS. The meeting with be on line through WebEx and parents with children starting school will be invited by email.
Due to a number of reasons we have an increased number of adolescents using the grounds after school hours and although we generally welcome members of our community to use the grounds after hours we cannot have large groups congregating in the grounds with the current COVID restrictions in place. We have contacted the Police as some unsafe behaviour has been observed and the last thing we want to happen is that someone is injured. We expect that anyone coming into the grounds to behave respectfully.
Spring has really arrived and the central courtyard at POPS is alive with the blossom of our Chanticleer Pears, our native plants are flowering, the ovals are green and some plants in the vegetable garden are growing overnight it seems! The gardens play an important part in the peaceful and natural environment of POPS.
Next week is Wellbeing Week at POPS and the teachers are preparing some fabulous activities for students and families to engage in, including the online Disco sponsored by our Parents Association. Please contact myself, Ms Garrity or your child’s class teacher if you would like support or to discuss anything. Stay safe.

This week the lessons have revolved around the theme of camps as this would have been the start of our camping program with senior students attending camp this week and junior participating in camping activities at school. I have witnessed some very engaging lessons this week on this theme. All staff were invited to paint a rock for one of the junior activities which was, for many of us a very meditative and enjoyable activity! The weather has also been perfect for our virtual camping program!
We had fun in our virtual Cucina this week with year three and four students making fried rice. It was wonderful to see what fabulous cooks our students are; we have some budding chefs in the making I think! Many thanks to the parents who support this program by sourcing the ingredients for the recipe prior to the online session on Wednesday afternoon. Thank you also to the year three and four teachers who support this program by cooking along online.
Over the past three weeks two of the junior playgrounds, (Spider and Rainbow) have been prepared for the installation of the
