Janet Lewis and José Carlos Rosell went to
the annual conference of the LAHC which
took place in Bogotá, Colombia from 15th
to 21st April. Ariana Valdivia and Alonso
Saldarriaga also attended.. The theme of
the conference was “Putting the student at
the centre”. They enjoyed listening to four
world famous speakers, Doug Fisher,
Rhonda Bondie, Dr. Nikki Woodson and
Barb Oakley, plus breakout sessions from
Patrick Mussolini and Daniel Bonilla. Apart
from this, they also took part in various
workshops and discussion forums. Ariana
and Alonso worked with other students
from LAHC schools preparing a project on
how to promote social justice. It was a very
valuable experience and they hope to share
new knowledge and ideas with our school
community.
This year we have six students signed up to take the
IB Diploma course. We are proud of the results that
our students have received in the Cambridge
Language Exams in English. We are also very
pleased with the French results our students have
obtained with Allianza Francesa. On 27th April,
Alianza Francesa gave prizes to three of our
students for their excellent results in the DELF
exams which they took last year. They were María
Alejandra Ruiz, Augusta Pérez and Christopher
Garayar. Congratulations!
During the week of 16th April all the students of Euroamerican College took part in Earth
Week activities which were organized by Ms. Dolly Parra and the ESD Committee. On
Monday students had to think about what they would do to help the planet. Tuesday was an
energy free day where nobody could use electric devices whilst on Wednesday we reflected
on how our overuse of plastic is affecting the environment. On Thursday the students worked
with the ESD doorways and on Friday the whole school community enjoyed eating a healthy
picnic together.
On Tuesday 24th April, Euroamerican College was host for the Grade 4 ADECOPA Festival with
almost 500 students taking part. Many thanks to our Head of PE, Ruben Cornejo and his
team for organizing this event.

Continuing with sports activities, towards the end of term, the PE department organized House
swimming galas from Nursery to Grade 12. Both participants and spectators enjoyed this event.
From 26th to 28th April, ten Secondary School students took part in a leadership
workshop with Ben Walden from Contender Charlie. Please look at
www.contendercharlie.com for more information on the work which this company
provides not only for students, but for leaders, head teachers and teachers.
It is important to note that specialist trainers have been hired, who are in charge of the
training of the selected students with a view to sporting events in different events, mainly
those organized by ADECOPA. This contract is made thanks to the funds raised in the 2017
Ecological Festival.

On Friday 4th May, the Early Years and
Primary section had their Student Led
Conference Day. For the first time, this
involved not only the tutors but also the
specialist teachers. On the same day,
the 11th grade students, through the
CAS programme, delivered the school
supplies to the children of San Lorenzo
School, located in Manchay. We thank
all the families who collaborated so
that this campaign could be carried out
successfully.
The French artist, Jibé has
painted a mural over the
water treatment plant
which deals abstractly with
the theme of water
treatment. In the middle,
the circle represents the
pond. On each side the
water passes through a
multitude of colorful toys
representing the plants
that clean the water. In the
extremities the mural ends
with a point because the
water goes on its way
towards a new use.
The 12th grade students also started a
new CAS project. They have programmed
and started the English classes for the
primary students of Colegio Virgen de
Chapi.
