An Epistle from Paul: Reasons for Embarrassment?! – Do you remember that T.V. ad where they demonstrated how durable and rugged a certain brand of luggage is by allowing a gorilla to play with one of their suitcases? Back in January of 1981, the Atlanta Zoo was the scene of this same demonstration. A piece of American Tourister Luggage was given to the zoo’s gorilla. Cameras rolled and people watched as this overgrown money tore the thing to bits! Officials for American Tourister were sought for a comment, but, needless to say, they were “unavailable!”

A similar event took place May 23, 1983 in Indiana. Top Ford officials drove up to the Indianapolis Star building to show off their new 1984 Mercury Topaz. The car stalled and they could not get it started. It eventually had to be towed away.

Can you imagine how embarrassing and disappointing these two incidents were for the companies involved…

With this in mind, let me draw a parallel. As servants of the most High God, do we ever have reason for embarrassment in the product we represent and present? Do we fear “embarrassing moments” will come our way as a result of our product? Is such fear well founded? NO! Matthew 10:32-33 says, “Everyone therefore who shall confess Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father Who is in heaven. But whoever shall deny Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father Who is in heaven.” Here is my point. Our Lord leaves absolutely nothing for which we ought to be embarrassed. In our wearing His name and representing His Son’s Church, there is nothing for which we can be embarrassed. To be embarrassed because of Christ, according to Matthew 10:32-33, is to pronounce judgment upon ourselves! May we ever move forward, brethren, unafraid and not embarrassed!!

Volume VIII June 28, 2016 No. 13

July 13th – 15th is Almost Here!Much has been done already in preparation for this year’s VBS effort… Much has yet to be done! We are calling upon the whole church family to make it their plan for the next three weeks to be in prayer for this effort… to get the word out concerning this (get family and neighborhood kids lined up to come)… and to make yourself available for help. All of our teachers and helpers are set; but, we will need some muscle and help during the Friday night Worship and Jamboree time. We will be having four large infallibles coming which will need some muscle in setting up and taking down, as well as, manning (pray for good weather then!).

Proverbs 15:23 “… How delightful is a timely word.”

Bi-Weekly Church Paperof

Where the Cross of Christ is at the heart of our worship

and service to Him!

But for now the most important thing we all can do is getting the word out! Help us accomplish this in order to have a solid crowd!!

Here’s the Count! June 12, 2016 ………………….$3,346.00June 19, 2016 …………………$1,501.58(Van Fund = $150; Building Fund = $175)

(Mission Fund = $150)

Thursday, July 7th!

WE urge all who are willing and able to pass out flyers telling of our upcoming Vacation Bible School to set aside Thursday, July 7th. We will meet at the church building on that date at 6 PM. Flyers will be made available and together we’ll “crash” the area with flyers giving the detail concerning VBS. Your presence and help with this must not be underestimated. With a goodly number of the church family doing this we will be able to cover several key residential areas with these handouts. Plan now to be a part of this important effort!!!

Our Next Family Movie Night is Coming!

Our next Family Movie Night will actually be Family Movie Afternoon. It will take place here at the building, Sunday, July 17th

at 2 PM. This will be right after VBS and will be a good movie for all to see. With the great crowd present for “War Room” this past Saturday, we want to utilize the license and equipment with which we have been

blessed to promote and encourage the viewing of these type of

movies. Our final Family Movie Night for the Summer will be August 13th here at the building at 5 PM. We will have a “Taco Bar” and then view the Movie “When the Game Stands Tall”!!!

(by no means an exhaustive list)

Military Personnel: Zachary Claywell, Austin Brasher, and Stephen Watts…

Recovering and Other Matters: Doris Childers, Betty and Cronley Teater, Jeanie Laubauch, Emma Grace Mills, Reva Cole, Dan Swihart, Monte Rieger, Dottie Campbell, Jack/John Rowell, Connie Moore, Barry Rieger, David Ramey, Connie Martin, Emma Sartain, Daryl McKee, Gary Stevenson, Jana Jo Carpenter, Joe and Margaret Worrell, Herman Kelly, Rick Watts, Jeff Watts, Darlene Dane, Angela Remley, Martha Gabbard, Richard Mitchell, Randy Hawk, Wanda Lee, Randy Eby, Pam Kauslick, Ron Lee, Don Fox, Brenda Buhler…

Dealing With Cancer: Dalene McIntire, Rebecca Strong, George Collins, Chuck Paul, and Evert Synder…

Building Expansion Update!

The committee has met again with the architect giving them insight as to what we are intending and hoping to accomplish through this expansion. The architect will be drawing up several possibilities and presenting these to the

committee. In turn the committee will be communicating to the church family what these possibilities are. We anticipate this happening in the not too distant future. Keep this process ever in prayer as we proceed with this plan. Also, continue to keep the land offer and possibilities that holds ever in your prayers as well!!

Just This Reminder!

If you are unable to assemble and be about the Lord’s Table, please let us know and our men will be more than happy to make this available to you at your home. Let us know in advance!!!
