Be thoughtful, be silent, and be reverent, for this is the House of God. Before the service, speak to the Lord; during the service,

let the Lord speak to you; after the service, speak to one another.

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful, and kindle in us the fire of Your Love. Send forth Your Spirit and we shall be created and You shall renew the face of the earth. O God, Who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit, we may be truly wise, and ever rejoice in Your consolations, through Christ our Lord, Amen. PROCESSIONAL HYMN ……………………………………………... A&M 772 (Tune A&M 542)

I need Thee, precious Jesus, for I am full of sin; My soul is dark and guilty, my heart is dead within. I need the cleansing Fountain where I can always flee, The Blood of Christ most precious, the sinner’s perfect plea. I need Thee, precious Jesus, for I am very poor; A stranger and a pilgrim, I have no earthly store. I need the love of Jesus to cheer me on my way, To guide my doubting footsteps, to be my strength and stay. I need Thee, precious Jesus, I need a friend like Thee, A friend to soothe and pity, a friend to care for me. I need the Heart of Jesus to feel each anxious care, To tell my every trouble, and all my sorrows share. I need Thee, precious Jesus, I need Thee, day by day, To fill me with Thy fulness, to lead me on my way; I need Thy Holy Spirit, to teach me what I am, To show me more of Jesus, to point me to the Lamb. I need Thee, precious Jesus, and hope to see Thee soon, Encircled with the rainbow and seated on Thy Throne. There, with Thy Blood-bought children, my joy shall ever be, To sing Thy praises, Jesu, to gaze, my Lord, on Thee.

INTROIT HYMN ……………………………………………………………………………… MEDLEY “IN THE NAME OF JESUS” In the name of Jesus, In the name of Jesus, We have the victory. In the name of Jesus, In the name of Jesus, Satan will have to flee. Who can ever stand before us, When we call on that great Name? Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus, We have the victory!

“I’M SO GLAD JESUS LIFTED ME” I’m so glad Jesus lifted me, I’m so glad Jesus lifted me, I’m so glad Jesus lifted me, I'm singing, glory hallelujah, Jesus lifted me. * Satan had me bound, but Jesus set me free... * When I was in trouble, Jesus lifted me... * On my way to heaven shouting the victory...

“SURELY THE PRESENCE” Surely the presence of the Lord is in this place I can feel His mighty power and His grace I can hear the brush of angels wings, I see glory on each face Surely the presence of the Lord is in this place.

Rejoice greatly, O daughter Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter Jerusalem! Lo, your King comes to you; triumphant and victorious is He, humble and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

10 He will

cut off the chariot from Ephraim and the warhorse from Jerusalem; and the battle-bow shall be cut off, and He shall command peace to the nations; His dominion shall be from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth.

11 As for you also, because of the blood of My covenant with you, I

will set your prisoners free from the waterless pit. 12

Return to your stronghold, O prisoners of hope; today I declare that I will restore to you double.

Reader: The Word of the Lord. Response: Thanks be to God. PSALM …………………………...………………………………………... 145:8-14 - BCP p661 SECOND LESSON

So I find it to be a law that when I want to do what is good, evil lies close at hand.

22 For I delight in the law of God in my inmost self,

23 but I

see in my members another law at war with the law of my mind, making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members.

24 Wretched

man that I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? 25

Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with my mind I am a slave to the law of God, but with my flesh I am a slave to the law of sin.

8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in

Christ Jesus. 2

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.

3 For God has done what the law,

weakened by the flesh, could not do: by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and to deal with sin, He condemned sin in the flesh,

4 so that the just requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us,

who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. 5

For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.

6 To set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the

mind on the Spirit is life and peace.

Reader: The Word of the Lord. Response: Thanks be to God.

GRADUAL HYMN …………………………...……………………………………..….. A&M 196 Guide me, O Thou great Redeemer, pilgrim through this barren land; I am weak, but Thou art mighty, hold me with Thy powerful hand; Bread of Heaven, Bread of Heaven, feed me now and evermore. Feed me now and evermore. Open now the crystal fountain, whence the healing streams do flow: Let the fiery cloudy pillar lead me all my journey through; Strong Deliverer, strong Deliverer, be Thou still my Strength and Shield. Be Thou still my Strength and Shield. When I tread the verge of Jordan, bid my anxious fears subside: Death of death, and hell’s destruction, land me safe on Canaan’s side; Songs of praises, songs of praises, I will ever give to Thee. I will ever give to Thee.

+ THE GOSPEL + Reader: The Lord be with you. Response: And also with you. Reader: A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew 11:25-30. Response: Glory to Christ our Saviour.

At that time Jesus said, “I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and have revealed them to infants;

26 yes, Father, for such was

Your gracious will. 27

All things have been handed over to Me by My Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him.”

28 “Come to Me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy

burdens, and I will give you rest. 29

Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me; for I Am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

30 For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.”

Reader: This is the Gospel of Christ. Response: Praise to Christ our Lord. POST-GOSPEL HYMN ………………..……………………………….. “ANCIENT WORDS”

Holy words long preserved, for our walk in this world, They resound with God's own heart, O let the ancient words impart Words of Life, words of Hope, give us strength, help us cope In this world, where e'er we roam, ancient words will guide us Home.

Ancient words ever true, changing me and changing you, We have come with open hearts, O let the ancient words impart

Holy words of our Faith, handed down to this age Came to us through sacrifice, O heed the faithful words of Christ. Holy words long preserved, for our walk in this world. They resound with God's own heart, O let the ancient words impart.

Living by faith in Jesus above, Trusting, confiding in His great love; From all harm safe in His sheltering arm, I’m living by faith and feel no alarm.

Tho' tempests may blow and the storm clouds arise; Obscuring the brightness of life. I'm never alarmed at the overcast skies, The Master looks on at the strife.

I know that He safely will carry me thro' No matter what evils betied; Why should I then care, tho' the tempest may blow, If Jesus walks close to my side.

Our Lord will return to this earth some sweet day, Our troubles will then all be o'er, The Master so gently will lead us away, Beyond that blest heavenly shore.

COMMUNION HYMNS ………………..…….. “THERE IS POWER IN THE BLOOD”

Would you be free from the burden of sin? There's power in the blood, power in the blood; Would you over evil a victory win? There's wonderful power in the blood.

There is power, power, wonder working power In the blood of the Lamb; There is power, power, wonder working power In the precious blood of the Lamb.

Would you be free from your passion and pride? There's power in the blood, power in the blood; Come for a cleansing to Calvary's tide; There's wonderful power in the blood. Would you be whiter, much whiter than snow? There's power in the blood, power in the blood; Sin stains are lost in its life giving flow. There's wonderful power in the blood. Would you do service for Jesus your King? There's power in the blood, power in the blood; Would you live daily His praises to sing? There's wonderful power in the blood.

“SINCE JESUS CAME INTO MY HEART”

What a wonderful change in my life has been wrought Since Jesus came into my heart; I have light in my soul for which long I have sought, Since Jesus came into my heart. Since Jesus came into my heart, Since Jesus came into my heart; Floods of joy o’er my soul like the sea billows roll, Since Jesus came into my heart. I have ceased from my wand’ring and going astray, Since Jesus came into my heart; And my sins which were many are all washed away, Since Jesus came into my heart.

I’m possessed of a hope that is steadfast and sure, Since Jesus came into my heart; And no dark clouds of doubt now my pathway obscure, Since Jesus came into my heart. There’s a light in the valley of death now for me, Since Jesus came into my heart; And the gates of the City beyond I can see, Since Jesus came into my heart. I shall go there to dwell in that City I know, Since Jesus came into my heart; And I’m happy, so happy as onward I go, Since Jesus came into my heart.

WOULD YOU BE FREE FROM YOUR PASSION AND PRIDE?

A&M 558

O Jesus, Blessed Lord, to Thee My heartfelt thanks for ever be, Who hast so lovingly bestow’d On me Thy Body and Thy Blood.

Break forth, my soul, for joy, and say What wealth is come to me to-day! My Saviour dwells within me now; How blest am I! how good art Thou!

CHILDREN’S HYMN ………………..……………………….…………… “JESUS LOVES ME” Jesus loves me! This I know, For the Bible tells me so; Little ones to Him belong, They are weak but He is strong. Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so.

Jesus loves me! He who died, Heaven's gate to open wide; He will wash away my sin, Let His little child come in. Jesus loves me! loves me still, When I'm very weak and ill; From His shining throne on high, Comes to watch me where I lie.

Jesus loves me! He will stay, Close beside me all the way; He's prepared a home for me, And some day His face I'll see.

SWEET THE COUNTLESS TONGUES UNITED!

RECESSIONAL HYMN - 7:00 AM ………………………………………………..… A&M 161

Bright the vision that delighted Once the sight of Judah’s seer; Sweet the countless tongues united To entrance the prophet’s ear. Round the Lord in glory seated Cherubim and Seraphim Fill'd His temple, and repeated Each to each th'alternate hymn; “Lord, Thy glory fills the Heaven; Earth is with its fullness stored; Unto Thee be glory given, Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord.”

Heav'n is still with glory ringing, Earth takes up the Angels’ cry, “Holy, Holy, Holy,” - singing, “Lord of hosts, The Lord most high.” With His seraph train before Him, With His holy Church below, Thus unite we to adore Him, Bid we thus our anthem flow; “Lord, Thy glory fills the Heaven; Earth is with its fullness stored; Unto Thee be glory given, Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord.”

RECESSIONAL HYMN - 9:30 AM ……………... “HIS COMING DRAWETH NIGH”

Lift up your heads, ye saints, we’re told redemption draweth nigh, Ere long His glory we’ll behold as lightning from on high; We’ve toiled and prayed and waited here, but soon His face we’ll see, And when He comes He’ll dry each tear, and we the Bride shall be.

His coming draweth nigh, we’ll meet Him in the sky, And go with Him to the marriage feast somewhere on high; Oh, what a time ‘twill be, our loved ones we will see, Far up above the tribulation by and by.

Farewell, gay world, our song shall be, we’ll sing it thru the air, Above the rugged hills and trees His wondrous glory share; Lift up, look up, still watch and pray, tho’ fading be your eye, Nor think His coming be delayed, it surely draweth nigh.

Page 5: 07 3 JUL 2011-Pentecost3

9

Around the festive board that day we’ll raise a mighty shout, Like many waters of the sea, we’ll sing and dance about; The angels cannot sing the song, they’ll stand with folded wings And wonder at the praise prolong, we’ll crown Him King of Kings.

Prayer After Mass: Glory to You Lord Jesus, glory to You. Grant that as I have served in Your presence, may we also come to serve in Your heavenly kingdom. In all things God be glorified. Amen.

Priest: The Mass is ended. Go in peace rejoicing in the power of the Holy Spirit.

People: Thanks be to God. Amen!!!

Wear A Smile (This is a fellow-up to last Sunday’s sermon asking us to usher in a season of Joy in this stressed-out Bahamas.)

“Wear a smile and have friends; wear a scowl and have wrinkles. What do we live for if not to make the world less difficult for each other?”

A smile says, “I am happy to see or meet you.”

Have you ever been in the doctor’s waiting room and glanced around at all the somber faced people waiting impatiently to be seen? Once while observing the faces of clients while sitting in the paediatrician’s office I noticed that the people were not communicating with one another. All were probably thinking other important business they would rather be doing than wasting time sitting in the doctor’s office. There were ten or more persons sitting down, waiting, when a two-year-old baby girl along with her parents walked into the office. As luck would have it, the little girl sat down next to the gentleman with his own two year old daughter. “What is your name?” She smiled. The burly gentleman could not help but reciprocate with a smile. As a result, they both struck up the unique kind of conversation that an adult has with a two-year-old.

During this time the other persons in the room started smiling and talking with persons sitting next to them. In a nutshell, a smile can break down tension and show that you have a genuine liking for another person.

We know that a smile is excellent medicine for confidence deficiency. Many persons do not really believe this because they have never tried smiling while they feel fear.

Try smiling before beginning your speech. Try smiling before you render a special item of music. Try wearing a smile at all times especially when all hell is about to break loose. Another person simply cannot be angry with you if you give him a big, sincere smile.

Your smile is a messenger of goodwill. Your smile brightens the lives of all who see it. Persons who have seen a dozen people frown turn their faces away. A smile is like the sun breaking through the clouds.

When some one is under pressure from his boss, clients, or parents, a smile can help him realize that all is not hopeless - that there is joy in the world.

Smiling can remove inner stress and replace it with great relief. When an individual is wearied, smiling can help to relax the person. Smiling makes good blood; it improves your health, it makes you look pleasant or say - beautiful. Why not wear a smile and bring happiness to another person’s life?

rector. • There will be one service, only, that Sunday morning. Communicate your

time preference with the rector. • The afternoon event should begin at 3:30pm. What can be done to give this

a changed appearance? The rector looks forward to hearing your ideas.

5. PYC – PARISH YOUTH COUNCIL’S PARENTS MEETING Thanks to all parents and youth who attended last Friday’s Parents Meeting. We look forward to an ongoing and dynamic partnership in youth ministry.
