7.1 Configuring SDH Service over Trail

    7.1.1 Creating VC4 Trail

    Purpose

Before deleting a VC4 trail, the trail for lower level service carried by this trail should be deleted first.

The VC4 trail can carry the service between source NE and sink NE only. Other NEs between the source NE and sink NE can not use the VC4 trail. So the VC4 trail is usually created between adjacent NEs instead of passing through several NEs to fully utilize bandwidth.

    Prerequisites

NM user with the authority of "system operator" or above.

A protection subnet has been created.

The license used by the customer supports the trail management function.

    Procedure

Step Action 1 Select [Trail/Fast Creation] in the Trail View.

2 Set the service direction to Bidirectional and level to VC4.

3 Configure the Resource Usage Strategy and Protection Priority Strategy.

4 Double-click the source NE and the sink NE in turn. The route selected automatically will be displayed between the NEs.

5 Click a server layer trail on the right to specify the inevitable route. It will be displayed in pink. Click that trail again to turn it gray, and it means that the selection is cancelled. (Optional)

Note: This step is optional. In most situations, you do not need to specify the inevitable route.

Step Action 6 Double-click NE icons to specify the nodes which are not allowed to be

passed by the trail. The selected NE will be marked with a (double-clicking them again can cancel the selection). (Optional)

Note: This step is optional. In most situations, you do not need to appoint the NE not allowed to be passed.

7 Click . The dialog box Set Route Timeslot is displayed. Select the timeslot and click .(Optional)

Note: This step is optional. If you do not assign the timeslot, timeslot 1 will be selected automatically.

8 Select the Activate combo box.

9 Select the Copy after Creation combo box if you want to create multiple trails with the same route. Click .(Optional)

    7.1.2 Creating Common VC12/VC3 Trail

    Purpose

The VC12/VC3 trail is the end-to-end service trail between NEs. Only with the VC4 service layer trail created between source and sink NEs and there is redundant E1/E3 timeslots on that, the VC12/VC3 trail can be created.

    Prerequisites

NM user with the authority of "system operator" or above.

A VC4 trail has been created.

The license used by the customer supports the trail management function.

    Procedures

Step Action 1 Select [Trail/Fast Creation] in the Trail View.

2 Select the service direction according to the type of the protection subnet. Set the service level to E1/T1 or E3/T3.

3 Configure the Resource Usage Strategy and Protection Priority Strategy.

4 Double-click the source NE and the sink NE in turn. Select the port in the dialog box Create Trail and click .

6 Double-click NE icons to specify the nodes which are not allowed to be passed by the trail. The selected NE will be marked with a (double-clicking them again can cancel the selection). (Optional)

Note: This step is optional. In most situations, you do not need to appoint the NE not allowed to be passed.

    2) Manually Create Trunk Link and Automatically Create Trunk Link are used for service expansion. In the former one, the source/sink of the Trunk Link need to be configured manually, but the timeslot can be allocated as required. In the latter one, the source/sink of the Trunk Link can be configured automatically, but the timeslot cannot be allocated flexibly.

4 Set port attributes. Set TAG, LCAS Enabled, Encapsulation Protocol, Port Enable and Entry Detection in Port Attribute Setting.

    Purpose

The Ethernet LAN service is added with MPLS or Stack VLAN protocol for processing on the basis of the original Layer 2 switching service, achieving fast forwarding and VCTRUNK bandwidth sharing. Logically the whole Ethernet LAN domain can be regarded as a huge switch. A user can access the switch from any ports in the domain. The port of this switch supports Layer 2 protocols, such as spanning tree and Internet group management protocol (IGMP Snooping).

The Ethernet private LAN (EPLn) is a simple application of the Ethernet LAN service. In this case, the VCTRUNK port cannot be shared.

Figure 7-3 Example of EPLn application

To use the trail function to create an EPLn service, you can configure the Ethernet service from the angle of networking, thus simplifying the configuration process.

    Prerequisites

NM user with the authority of "system operator" or above.

Fibers and protection subnet have been created at the network layer.

The Ethernet processing board and the corresponding interface board have been installed.

    Procedure

    1. Creating service trail Step Action 1 Create VC4 trail. The detailed operations are described in 7.1.2

Creating Common VC12/VC3 Trail or 7.1.3 Creating SNCP VC12/VC3 Trail.

Step Action 2 Create the lower order path trail (VC12 trail or VC3 trail) (Optional).

The detailed operations are described in 7.1.2 Creating Common VC12/VC3 Trail.

Note: You can skip this step. When creating a Trunk Link trail, you can also create a lower over path trail.

    2. Creating Trunk Link trail Step Action 1 Select [View/Trail View] from the Main Menu. Select [Trail/Create

Trunk Link] in the Trail View.

    2 Set the Bandwidth.

3 Select the Automatically create service trail. (Optional)

Note: If no VC3/VC12 trail has been created in advance. Here you need to select Automatically create service trail, indicating that you can create a lower order path trail when creating a Trunk Link trail. If a VC3/VC12 trail has been created, you can skip this step.

Step Action 4 Set the Source and Sink. Click to select the appropriate

    VCTRUNK ports.

Note: 1) If you have executed Step 3, you need to select Bound Timeslot in addition to the VCTRUNK port.

    2) If you have not executed Step 3, you need to select the VCTRUNK port only.

    3) You need to keep the bandwidth of the source/sink VCTRUNK consistent with that set in Step 2.

5 Set the VCTRUNK port attribute. Click , the Port Attribute Setting dialog box is displayed. Set the port attributes.

Note: Here you configure the EPLn service only, so the value of Port Type is PE.

6 In Available Trail", select a proper lower order path trail as the Trunk Link trail at the service layer. (Optional)

Note: If you have not executed Step 3, skip this step.

Select a proper Trunk Link trail, click .

    Strategy 2: Create Trunk Link.

Click to create the Trunk Link trail. For detailed operation, see 2. Creating Trunk Link trail.

After that, click to return to step 2 and complete the setting.

The default value of the Trunk Link trail strategy is Use Existing Trunk Link. Select the created Trunk Link trail and click .

Note: 1) Trunk Link trail strategy lies on the application in practice. Therefore, it is recommended to create Trunk Link trail first, and then create the Ethernet trail. In Select Trunk Link, take the default value.

    2) Create Trunk Link is usually used for service expansion.

7 Set port attributes of all the ports in this Ethernet trail.

8 Create VLAN. Click in the VLAN Configuration. The VLAN Configuration for Ethernet Trail dialog box is displayed.
