Teach to Each!
• Each school district in the State of Washington shall provide a plan for each student (or a group of students with similar academic needs) who is not successful on any or all of the content areas of the Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL).

Who is Required to Have a Plan?
Students who did not meet one or more standards of the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th or 10th grade WASL

Reading 400+
Writing 9+
Mathematics 400+
Science 400+
What is Our Responsibility?
• PEA Memorandum of Understanding– Certificated staff members will be involved
in creating and communicating student learning plans to parents
– Certificated staff must make two attempts to conference with families about the plans
• After two attempts or one no-show, plans may be mailed home
– SLP forms and conferences must be completed by the end of first semester January 30

What’s Required? WASL Results
If they do not have an IEP for an area they did not meet standard in, they need an SLP.
What about students enrolled in special education ? They already have individual education plans. Do we have to create separate learning plans for them?
They need an SLP in any area in which they did not meet standard. Consult with the LAP staff to determine who will complete the plan.
What about students who are receiving LAP services? Do we have to create separate learning plans for them?
