    RECAP: The Rainiers scored 8 runs between the 6th and 7th innings as Tacoma came-from-behind to defeat Las Vegas 11-8 on Monday night. SS Chris Taylor (2x5, SB), DH Jesus Montero (2x4, 2 R, 2B, HR, 2 RBI), 1B Ji-Man Choi (2x4, 2 R), C Humberto Quintero (2x3, R, HR, 2 RBI) and LF Xavier Avery (2x4, R, 2B, RBI) each recorded 2 of the teams 12 hits. Montero, Quintero and RF Ty Kelly (1x2, 2 R, HR, 4 RBI, BB) each hit a home run and combined to drive in 8 of the Rainiers 11 runs.     RECAP: The Generals held a 2-1 after 4 innings, but allowed 4 unanswered runs as Jackson lost to Huntsville 2-5 on Monday night. 2B Brock Hebert (2x3) recorded the teams only multi-hit game, while CF Leon Landry (1x4, R), SS Ketel Marte (1x4, R), 3B Patrick Kivlehan (1x4, 2B, RBI) and LF Dario Pizzano (1x4, 2B) each recorded 1 of the teams 6 hits. RF Gabby Guerrero (2x4, 2B) and SS Zach Shank (2x4, 2B) each led the team with 2 hits, while Henry (1x3, R, HR, RBI, BB) and Lara (1x4, R, HR, RBI) combined to drive in both fo the Maviericks runs. Starter Scott DeCecco (8.0,5,3,3,1,4) recorded his 9th loss, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits in 8.0 innings. RH Grady Wood (1.0,1,0,0,1,1) held the Rawhide scoreless in the 9th inning.

    COACHING STAFF: The Mariners California League affiliate, the High Desert Mavericks, will be managed by Eddie Menchaca, who spent the previous 3 seasons with Clinton. He enters his 6th season in the Mariners organization, including 4 as manager. Menchaca has led his squad to the postseason in each of the last 4 seasons, accumulating a 238-243 (.495) record. Pitching coach Andrew Lorraine enters his 1st season with High Desert after spending the last 2 seasons with Clinton. Hitting coach Max Venable begins his 1st season as coach in the Mariners organization. Venable appeared parts of 12 seasons in the Major Leagues as an outfielder, including stints with the Giants (1979-83), the Expos (1984), the Reds (1985-87), and the Angels (1989-91). Overall he batted .241 (337x1397) with 176 runs scored, 57 doubles, 17 triples, 18 home runs and 128 RBI in 727 career games in the Major Leagues. His son, Will, is currently an outfielder with the San Diego Padres.     RECAP: 1B Justin Seager hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the 8th inning to help Clinton to a 2-1 lead over Lansing on Monday afternoon. CF Aaron Barbosa (2x3, 2B) and SS Jack Reinheimer (2x4, R, RBI) each recorded 2 of the teams 8 hits. Starter Blake Holovach (6.1,1,1,1,4,6) allowed 1 run on 1 hits in 6.1 innings, but did not factor into the decision. RH Rafael Pineda (1.0,2,0,0,0,0) recorded his 4th win, while LH Paul Fry (1.2,1,0,0,0,2) earned his 2nd save.

    MIDWEST LEAGUE PITCHER OF THE WEEK: RHP Edwin Diaz was named Midwest League Pitcher of the Week, July 14-20. Diaz recorded the win in Clintons 5-0 win over Greak Lakes on July 17. He limited the Loons to only 3 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 8 in 6.0 shutout innings.

    COACHING STAFF: Manager Scott Steinmann returns to lead the LumberKings after a four-year absence from the Midwest League. Steinmann was Clintons manager in 2009 and led them to a 69-68 record. He was originally assigned to be the hitting coach with short-A Everett, but was promoted to Clinton after Chris Prieto was named the Mariners Quality Control Coach. Pitching Coach Cibney Bello and Hitting Coach Brent Johnson make their MWL coaching debuts after being teammates on the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers squad in 2005. Bello held the same title with AZL Mariners in 2013 and Johnson was the hitting coach in Pulaski. Geoff Swanson is the Athletic Trainer coming from Pulaski in 2013 and Taylor Nakamura is the performance specialist after being with Everett in 2013.

    MLB FUTURES ALL-STAR GAME Seattle Mariners minor league infielder D.J. Peterson played for the U.S. squad, while outfielder Gabby Guerrero represented the World team in the 16th annual SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game on Sunday, July 13 at Target Field in Minnepolis as part of All-Star weekend. Peterson started at 1B and in the 6th position in the lineup, going 1-for-2 with a double. Guerrero hit 7th as the World teams starting DH, going 0-for-2 at the plate. The Mariners have had 31 selections to the Futures Game since its first began in 1999. Six players on the current 25-man roster (+DL) played in the Futures Game in the past: Robinson Cano (2003-04), Corey Hart (2002), Felix Hernandez (2004), Logan Morrison (2010), James Paxton (2011) and Michael Saunders (2007). Brad Miller was selected to the 2013 U.S. Team, but was unable to play due to his promotion to the Major League squad. Cano (All-Star: 2006, 2010-13, Futures Game: 2003 & 2004), Hart (All-Star: 2008 & 2010, Futures Game: 2002) and Hernandez (All-Star: 2009, 2011-13; Futures Game: 2004) are each one of 115 players to have competed in both the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game and the Major League Baseball All-Star Game. The SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game, which is now in its 16th year, features the top Minor League prospects competing in a nine-inning contest as part of Taco Bell All-Star Sunday.
