HOBBIES AND FREE TIME
In the Basque country we have a lot of things to do in our free time.
In summer, we can go to the beach to surf or sunbathe because it is near, in San Sebastian. We can also go to the swimming pool in Ordizia.
In winter we can go skiing or playing with the snow in the mountains.

Here we can also do other sports like cycling because we have very good roads, climb mountains,… We have a sports centre here in Ordizia where you can go to the gym, play football, basketball, handball and rugby which is the most important sport because the team of the town is in first division.
We have a new skate park too.
Adults have lunch or dinner with friends or familly to celebrate in a local, for example festive days, birthdays… we call this place “sociedad” (gastronomic society). Here people are members and when they want to have lunch or dinner they write their name on a computer to book table and they can use allthe cooking utensils.

They like going to the mountain with family to spend the day too, they have lunch in a barbacue, here normally at our town´s small mountain, Oiangu, or in Larraitz.

Here is also very important the “derbi”. The “derbi” is the most important football match of the year for people from the Basque country because “Real Sociedad” (from Donostia) and “Athletic Club de Bilbao” (from Bilbao) are the two most important teams from here. It is a very tense match to decide which is the best team of the year between them and the people enjoy themselves a lot, more than when they play against “Real Madrid” and “Barça”.
