• Period 3 is in the dog house this week.
Today’s Objectives

scientists.– Have a grasp of conversion from standard to
metric units.– Be able to read and understand graphs and charts.

Metric Review
1 u = 100 centi = 1,000 milli1 kilo = 1,000 u = 100,000 centi = 1,000,000 milli
Deci, hecta, deka are rarely, if ever, used. Learn Mili, Centi, and Kilo and you will become the champ.
When converting, ask yourself this:1) Where is my decimal point?2) Is the unit I’m converting to BIGGER or SMALLER than the
original unit?- Smaller = move the decimal point RIGHT- Bigger = move the decimal point to the LEFT
3) How many places do I move the decimal?- King Henry Died Monday drinking Chocolate Milk- Count the number of steps from your starting to
ending point.- Move the decimal that number of points.
Example 1
• 600mg = ____ g
Example 2
• 4,562cm = _____ km
Example 3
• 100 cm = _____ m
Example 4
• 2ml = ____ kl
Example 5
• 600cm = ____ m
Example 6
• 100 m = ___cm
Example 7
• 1,000,000 cm = _____ km
Example 8
• 1,000km = _____ m
Example 9
• 3.45 m = _____ cm
Jeopardy!
• 6 Teams, 6 clickers.• Winning team gets 5pts on the test.• This is for a participation grade. Don’t
participate = get a 0.• If I am missing a clicker, a clicker is broken, or
you aren’t using the clicker properly, you won’t use them for the rest of the year.
