New School!
Old SchoolOld School Throughout the years dancing
has been used for many expressions; a form of self expression, cultural expression, expression of the mind and soul. Dance has evolved from the Waltz, to disco, to boy band groups. Yet a very unique and difficult style of dancing was evolved, breakdancing.
Breakdancing was created back in the 70’s in the Bronx and then became so popular it was then introduced to the streets of New York.
The term “Breakdancing” refers to the breaks in the music, then the movements would associate to those breaks.
Old School Continued...Old School Continued... The moves were also important. People would
perform simple moves such as the robot, the wave and other moves that came from Lindy Hop, Charleston and Kung-Fu. For this dance there was a way to dress, normally done in low pants, t-shirt and a hat tipped to the side. Dancing moves include, moving feet sideways along the ground, on your tippy toes, spinning on your knees, head, elbows, feet. Also, mocking fighting moves and pantomime. Breakdancing would soon evolve into a cultural phenomenon.
