From the Principal
Hello Greensborough Families,
I hope that you were able to enjoy some long-awaited sunshine this week. Students and staff are continuing to make the best of virtual learning; the resiliency and optimism I see each day is commendable. I have received many notes from parents to express gratitude for our staff which has gone a long way in keeping spirits up throughout the many changes to our school year.
In this week’s newsletter, there are some important reminders and opportunities from both our school and the board. If you have any questions or comments after reading the information, please feel free to reach out via email. I am always happy to phone you to discuss supporting your children and your family in any way needed.
For those of you who celebrated this week, wishing you Eid Mubarak! Stay safe and well, Heather Purcell
Principal

Class Placement for the 2021-2022 School Year As we organize for next year, our staff will make every effort to place students in the best learning environment for each child to be successful. We take into account Ministry and Board guidelines, individual needs, academic achievement, emotional and social development, behaviours, gender balance, English Language Learners and Special Education needs, and work habits. We appreciate that parents/guardians have valuable information to share with us in this regard. Teachers have the benefit of knowing the children they are currently working with or have worked with in the past and we rely on their professional decisions. If however, you have information or suggestions, which will assist us in making appropriate placement, please write a brief note to Heather Purcell by May 31st, 2021: [email protected] Rather than suggesting a teacher, please indicate the learning style or classroom structure, which you feel would be the most appropriate for your child’s success. When teachers along with school administration get together to create new class lists, we will use this information to help make our final decisions. Requests will be accommodated only where the placement will enhance student learning. As always the final decision for the placement of all students at Greensborough P.S. rests with the Principal, in consultation with teaching staff and parents. We ask that you have confidence in the professional judgment of your child’s teacher and the school administration in making the best possible choice for your child next year.

TO EVERYBODY WHO IS CELEBRATING!!
Eid Ul Fitr is the celebration after the month of Ramadan. It rounds off the month of Ramadan, which Muslims observe every year to acknowledge Allah’s revelation of the Quran to the Prophet Muhammad. Eid Ul Fitr comes after the holy month of Ramadan, when many Muslims will not eat or drink during the daytime for a 29- or 30-day period. The holiday is all about the breaking of the dawn-to-dusk fast and is celebrated on the first day of Shawwal (the 10th month). It falls approximately 11 days earlier than the one the previous year when following the Gregorian (solar) calendar. Eid Mubarak!!
