14 March through 29 March 2013: The Roads Maintenance Contractor will mill, patch, overlay and crack and joint seal
the east and west
parking lots adjacent to 202 Custer Ave. (King Field House). Parking at this facility will be difficult, however at least one
parking area will
be open at all times. Please observe the construction warning signs, adhere to the parking lot closed signs and Traffic
Control personnel..
7-26 March ID Cards - Defense Manpower Data Center, or DMDC, will be upgrading the RAPIDS Computer Systems to
Windows 7 March 26 to 28. As a result, two computers will be taken out of production at a time for the upgrade. This
will result in some degradation of service on those days. To make the transition process as smooth as possible, no
appointments will be taken on those days, and DMDC officials are requesting only customers who absolutely need new
ID Cards – lost, stolen or destroyed – will be seen on a case-by-case basis. For more information, call Gary Morris at

Rivendell Bookstore in Abilene will hold its first ever children’s event, Saturday, March 23, 1-3 p.m. Help them celebrate spring with a Story time Eggs-travaganza! Stories include “The Night Before Easter” by Natasha Wing and “Skippyjon Jones: Up, Up, and Away!” by Judy Schachner. Story time begins at 1:30. After story time, stick around for craft time and let the kids decorate cute bunny and chick masks. And don’t forget to pick out a prize from their spring goodie basket filled with coupons, prizes and other treats!

18-22 March Spring Break Bowling: $.50 Bowling and shoes rental for kids K-12. starting at
11am-5pm Food and Beverage specials offered all day for the kids.
18-22 March Spring Fling at Eyster Pool: Family $10 single day or $25 for the entire week, $5 single
person per day or $15 for the week. Each day will celebrate a different theme. Activities from 1-4pm each

30 March Abilene Eisenhower Presidential Library Museum will be present it’s very first
Easter egg roll from 1-4 pm. This event is free and open to the public and will feature games,
crafts,face painting , Easter egg hunt and MORE. The location for this event is 200 S.E. 4th Street Abilene Kansas

With the growth of the Forsyth neighborhood, traffic has increased at the intersection of Rifle Range Road and Trooper
Drive. To improve traffic conditions, the intersection will be replaced with a new roundabout, and direct access to Venable
Drive will be removed. The construction project will run from April to November and will be completed in three phases.
Phase One, which runs April to June, will include the removal of Venable Drive and the construction of a new two-lane
bypass road that will allow traffic to continue around the construction of the roundabout. A majority of this bypass road
will remain as the northbound Trooper Drive bypass of the roundabout. By phasing the construction, the intent is to
reduce or eliminate the impact to traffic during the construction of this project.See attached map

Custer Hill Bowling Center has special weekly bowling specials. They include:
Weekday Programming
• Lunchtime: From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday to Friday, $1 games and $1 shoes. Also available is a $7 special, which
includes one personal one-topping pizza, one fountain soda and two games of bowling with shoes.
• Afternoons: From 1 to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday, $1.50 games and $1 shoes.
• After School Deal: From 3:30 to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday, $5 a person, which includes two games, shoes and a snack.
Evening Programming
• Mondays – Children bowl free from 6 p.m. to close. Children get to bowl free all night with a paying adult. Three
children per one adult, and shoes are included. Adults pay $2.75 per game and $2.50 for shoes. Games must correspond
with the same number of games bowled as children.
• Tuesdays - Nifty Fifty Night: 6 p.m. to close, $.50 games and $.50 shoes. Hotdogs, popcorn and small sodas are $.50 each.
• Wednesdays – Red Pin Night: 6 p.m. to close, $2 games and $2 shoes. Get a strike with the head red pin and win a coupon
for a free game of bowling.
• Fridays – Ghost Bowling: 6 p.m. to close, $9 per person, which includes shoes and bowling with ghost pins. Also available
are $1 fish sandwiches all day and night long.
Weekend programming
• Saturday afternoons, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., $1.50 games and $1 shoes
• Saturday Night Extreme: 6 p.m. to midnight, $10 per person and $6 for children 12 and younger, which includes shoes
and bowling. Also available are $10 one-topping pizzas and $3.50 pitchers of soda all night.
• Sundays - Family Fun Day: All Day, $35 per lane, which includes two hours of bowling, one large two-topping pizza, two
pitchers of soda and shoes for up to six people.
ZOOfari Tails at the Manhattan Public Library!!!!

Sunset Zoo staff and children's librarians featuring animal-themed stories
