Fully beaded nameplate (stamped “LOT 254 No. 68” to back) and cast brass cabside originate from ‘Hall’ class 4-6-0 built 12/1929 at Swindon and initially allocated to Old Oak Common. The locomotive was converted to oil firing 05/1947 and renumbered 3900. Reverting back to 4968 upon re-conversion to coal 03/1949 it was latterly allocated to Cardiff Canton, Pontypool Road, Shrewsbury and St. Philip’s Marsh where it was withdrawn and finally cut-up at Cashmore’s, Newport 11/1962. S.W”, the back of the case is deeply branded “2442”/”SW” and the back of the dial “W.2442”. The Southern Railway clock records show that it was located at Andover Town,

Rooksbury Crossing until line closure the date on record being “06/12/66”. The clock was sent for restoration by the vendor to John Smith & Sons, Derby in 1991 and is in GWO/VGC c/w all keys/pendulum/paperwork.

Lacquered brass finish with single bead line to base and Grecian pattern to downward tapering square column. These first-class pattern lamps were also used in the third-class cars hence no name on base. The wiring to the lamp has been removed for

safety reasons and should be replaced by a qualified electrician. GC with minimal service wear. No shade. 19¾” h.

Oval cast brass originating from class J25 0-6-0 designed by Wilson Worsdell and originally numbered 2000 this being changed to 2050 10/1944. Renumbered 5670 11/1946 and finally 65670 07/1948. Latterly shedded at Tyne Dock from where it was withdrawn 06/1962 this being one of the last three in service. C/W brass renumbering strip and label to back stating l/h plate. Devoid of paint.

Rebuilt to A3 class and re-entering traffic 11/01/1947 it was finally renumbered 60057, 16/06/1948. It was further rebuilt with a double chimney 19/09/1958. Sheds inc Haymarket, Carlisle Canal, Haymarket and St Margarets from where it was withdrawn 28/10/1963 and sold for scrap to Arnott Young, Carmyle 06/1964. Numberplate which has a ‘curly’ 6 appears to be in original condition c/w pattern numbers cast into the back.

An East African Railways Locomotive Nameplate and Cabside Set “THARAKA”/”3144”. Both rectangular cast brass originating from ‘tribal’ class 2-8-4. Built by Vulcan to work’s no. 6229 in 1955, these locomotives were designed for branch line duties and totalled 46 members of the class, the majority of which were working into the 1970s. This particular example being allocated to Nairobi. Both plates face restored only. 40½” x 6½”/24½”x 8⅝”. NO BUYER’S PREMIUM.

Renumbered 50018 02/1974 and named ‘Resolution’ 04/1978 to 07/1991 when it was withdrawn and cut-up by MC Processors, Glasgow 01/1993. Plate which is neatly cut is finished in ‘NSE’ blue with ‘rail blue’ beneath outline of nameplate c/w tip of d/arrow to bottom r/h corner and originally stencilled “B SIDE” to rear. 52” x 18”.

These locomotives 060-DA-001 to 060-DA-1407 powered by Sulzer 12 LDA 28 engines were built from 1960 to 1981 of which 91 were built in 1972. Finished in original CFR dark green. 20¼” x 10¾”.
