Environmental Planning ProcessIdentification of High Environmental Priorities and Goals for FY2013Environmental Management Branch (EMB) has gone through

the process of identifying, categorizing, and ranking LaRC’s environmental priorities, based on NPR 8553.1B process:

.

3. Group and Assign Aspect

Categories

5. Determine Impact

Severity Score

8. Set Objectives, Targets, and Programs

7. Determine Overall Risk

Ranking

6. Determine Risk

Probability Score

4. Categorize Environmental

Impacts

2. Identify Environmental Aspects and

Impacts

1. List Activities,

Products, and Services

EMB has “taken a stab” at identifying what WE think are the highest priorities, but now we need your input!

36

Environmental High Priorities for FY 2013For each High Environmental Priority, LaRC must

develop: • An Objective (broad goal to ensure High Environmental

Priority will be addressed) • At least one Target (specific measurable goals that can be

achieved within the upcoming year) Specific personnel, tasks, activities, resources, and

timeline for achieving the Targets must also be identified.

Next steps

October: EMB develops Targets for High Priorities and sends to EMC for review

November: FY13 Objectives/Targets begin to be implemented

Fall 2012: EMB provides presentation to senior management at Executive Safety Council meeting.

December/January: Quarterly EMC Meeting to evaluate progress toward goals.

At any time, please feel free to contact Kristen Poultney or Andrea Finley regarding the EMC or any other environmental issue/topic.
