PREVIOUS APPROVAL: Bendix/King KLN89B system previou.~ly installed by FAA Form 337, dated 12/29/97. The Bendix/King KLN89B GPS installation meets the requirements set forth in FAA Advisory Circular 20-13 8, dated 5/25/94, Appendix 1, Paragraph 1. Flight tests were conducted and the above Bendix/King KLN89B GPS system/installation meets the requirements set forth in FAA Advisory Circular 20-138, dated 5/25/94, Appendix 1(2)d. Attached is Functional Flight Evaluation Sheet.

FAA Approved Flight Manual Supplement dated J'AN 2 2 1998 must be carried in the aircraft at all times. It describes the operating procedures for the Bendix/King KLN89B GPS system installed in accordance with Bendix/King KLN89B Installation Manual, PN 006-10522-0001, Rev. 1, June 1995, and FAA Form 337 dated 12/29/97.

The above Bendix/King KLN89B GPS installation is follow-on approval of STC #SA00244WI-D as per FAA NC 20-138, dated 5/25/94, Paragraph 8A(2). Removed placard: "GPS LIMITED TO VFR USE PENDING FAA APPROVAL." Installed FAA Approved KLN89B Flight Manual Supplement in Aircraft Flight Manual. Logbook entry made.

The above Bendix/King KLN89B GPS system is approved for IFR enroute, terminal, and non­precision approach operations. SEE BENDIX/KING KLN89B FAA APPROVED FLIGHT MANUAL SUPPLEMENT FOR LIMITATIONS.

This aircraft is equipped with approved and operational alternate means of navigation appropriate to the route to be flown. TillS EQUIPMENT MUST BE ACTIVELY USED THE BY THE FLIGHT CREW TO MONITOR THE PERFORMANCE OF THE KLN89B GPS SYSTEM.

12/29/97- Performed the following: Installed Bendix/King KLN89B GPS system as follows­Bendix/King KLN89B panel unit installed in radio stack below existing Bendix/King KX165 Nav/Com, ARM 63 .5. Bendix/King KA92 GS antenna installed on top of cabin, centerline, ARM 93.0, utilizing existing antenna doubler. Mid-Continent MD41-53 8 switching/annunciator installed in pilots's sub­panel, right of autopilot control head, ARM 65 .5. Troll FN300 cooling fan installed on bottom of existing Bendix ADF tray, bottom of radio stack, ARM 65 .00. Antenna to panel unit coax routed on left side of aircraft.

The above Bendix/King KLN89B GPS was interfaced to existing Terra AT3000 blind encoder to provide encoded altitude data to GPS . The above KLN89B was interfaced to existing Bendix/King KI525A HSI via the MD41-538 annunciator switching assembly. Checks were made to insure system will revert to primary Nav 1 steering during ILS Selection on Nav 1 or power failure to GPS system "Fail Safe." Tests were conducted to insure proper operation ofKLN89B and associated systems. Circuit protection provided via "pull type" circuit breaker.

The above Bendix/King KLN89B GPS system was installed as per Bendix/King KLN89B Installation Manual PN 006-10522-0001, Rev. 1, June 1995 and associated manufacturers' installation manuals. The above KLN89B GPS system installation complies with procedures as recommended in A/C 120-138, Appendix 1, Para. 1, for "VFR USE ONLY." The pilots' panel was placarded to read "GPS LIMITED TO VFR USE PENDING FAA APPROVAL". The above Bendix/King KLN89B GPS Installation is approved by reference to previous approvals as authorized by FAA letter dated August 13, 1997. Bendix/King Pilots' Guide PN 006-8786-0000 and KLN89B Quick Reference PN 006-8787-0000 placed in aircraft. The aircraft was ground and flight tested to inure proper operation ofthe above KLN89B system.

The above installations were made using practices as recommended in,A/C 43 .13-1A, Chapter 11, Sections 2, 3, 4 & 7 and A/C 43 .13-2A, Chapters 1, 2 & 3. The above installations meet the requirements of FAR 23 .1301 , 23 .1431 and 23 .561. Weight/balance data computed, equipment list revised, electrical load analysis satisfactory and logbook entry made. The above installations do not appreciably affect aircraft performance or flight characteristics.

The above installation was test flown and found to comply with procedures as recomended in AIC 20-13 8, Paragraph 7 c( 1 )(iv ), VFR peration.

Installed Comant Industries CI 121 VHF antenna (Com #2) on top of fuselage, left side, ARM 196.0, '(s'pac~ pi~viously occupied by II Morrow A-16 loran antenna). Coax rounted on left side of aircJaft .al}d "connected to Com #2 transceiver. The above removals/installations were made using practices as recommended in NC 43 .13-2A, Chapters 1, 2 & 3.
