Nigeria is blessed to have a soil layer of the earth crust that is well placed, therefore making the possibility of the occurrence of an earthquake very slim. However, Nigeria is exposed to other natural disasters such like:
I. Oil spillage, II. Flood, the most common of all
LIST OF NATURAL DISASTERS THAT HAVE OCCURRED IN NIGERIA
FLOODING Flood is the most devastating natural
hazard in the world. Unfortunately, it happens to be one natural disaster encountered in Nigeria especially during the rainy season, which is usually as a result of poor drainage infrastructures and blockage of available drainages through improper disposal of refuse.
NATURAL DISASTERS THAT HAVE OCCURRED IN NIGERIA
The Lagos state government for example
in an effort at making sure that refuse are disposed properly set up the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA).
LAWMA is charged with the responsibility to ensure effective and efficient disposal of waste in Lagos Nigeria, both residential and Industrial waste.
NATURAL DISASTERS THAT HAVE OCCURRED IN NIGERIA
In Nigeria, serious flood disasters have
occurred in: Ibadan (1985, 1987, 1990, 2012) Osogbo (1992, 1996, 2002) Yobe (2000), Akure (1996, 2000, 2002, 2004,
2006) and the Coastal cities of Lagos Port Harcourt, Calabar, Uyo and Warri
among many incidences that have claimed many lives
PLACES WHERE FLOODING HAS OCCURRED IN NIGERIA
Currently, on the 9th and 12th of October 2012, Nigeria faced flood disasters from major rivers like the Niger which burst their banks . At least, 140 people died , an estimated 623,900 people had been displaced and 152,575 hectares of farmland destroyed so far leaving many homeless.

An oil spill is the release of a liquid petroleum hydrocarbon into the enviroment, especially marine areas, due to human activity, and is a form of pollution.
OIL SPILLAGE
CAUSE OF OIL SPILLAGEOil spillage occurs when people make mistakes or are careless and cause an oil tanker to leak oil into the ocean. It often occur when companies drill oil in mostly in the eastern Nigeria
Oil spillage can simply be prevented by people being more careful ..
