Company Profile• The “Mesogeiako Counselling System” has been active since
2002 in the filed of life long learning focussing its activities on the continuous training of human resources. The aim is to provide ongoing training programs for unemployed workers, self-employed with particular emphasis on those belonging to vulnerable groups in order to eliminate social exclusion.
• Mesogeiako is a Vocational Training Centre (VTC) at National Level and has been accredited as such by the National Accreditation Centre (EKEPIS).

Offices and Branches Mesogeiako is based in Thessaloniki with two branches,one in Serres (Eastern Macedonia) and the other in the
island of Mytilini (Eastern Aegean)

Activities and Implementation of Programmes and Projects
Mesogeiako, from 2002 to date, has successfully implemented :
a total of about 200 training programs for
2,500 beneficiaries
as a sub contractor of the Operational Programmes
"Employment and Vocational Training”,
“Information Society”,
“Competitiveness 2000-2006,"
various Regional Operational Programs (ROP), such as ROP Attica, ROP North Aegean, ROP South Aegean, ROP Central Macedonia, ROP Eastern Macedonia - Thrace, ROP Central Greece and several local employment initiatives as well as the E.U. Initiatives URBAN and EQUAL.

Memberships• Mesogeiako is a member of the European Network of
Cultural Administration Training Centres (ENCACT) and the Central European Initiative CEI.
• It is also a member of the consortium Always Tourism “Adaptability of Travel Agencies” of the E.U. Initiative Equal.

Mesogeiako employs
• 10 full time members of staff and • 70 experts and trainers on short term contracts with
experience in the thematic fields of its activities

• European Initiative URBAN II: Mesogeiako was a training partner, who trained 280 trainees in Creta island. The trainees developed successfully their skills on Cultural Administration issues (planning and organizing events, sports activities, workshops, etc.)
• The project was successfully completed in 2006.

• European Program INTERREG IIIA / PHARE CBC Greece - Bulgaria Cross border Cooperation.
• Mesogeiako was a training partner in project activities, where 250 greek and Bulgarian trainees developed successfully their skills in Business Administration sector.
• The Managing organizations were the Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Serres / Greece and Blagoevgrad / Bulgaria.
Fundamental aim and objective of the project undertaken was the support of employability of the trainees by training in main subjects of:
* Tourism and Alternative tourism quality service* Entrepreneurship issues in micro and small enterprises* Information & communication technologies* ICT basic skills.
• The project was successfully completed in 2008.

European Initiative EQUAL: Mesogeiako was a Partner in the Development Partnership of the project ‘Allways Tourism’ : Adaptability - Adaptation to change and New Information Technologies (NIT).
The Managing organization was the Hellenic Association of Travel and Tourist Agencies and Partners were national Universities, Mass Media organisations, IT Companies and International Research Centre of Sport Tourism.
Fundamental aim and objective of the project undertaken from Always Tourism was the support of adaptability of workers and their companies in the structural changes of technology and the requirements of tourist market as they are shaped in the internationalised environment. The project has been successfully completed in 2008.

Activity 1 Establishment and operation of Social Inclusion Centers (C.I.S.) for Roma
in 6 locations in the country. One in central Bucharest and 5 regional- in Mures, Timis, Iasi, Cluj, Braila, and their networking with
other support structures.
• Sub-activity 1.1.Writing a Study on the creation and staffing support services of CIS, taking into account the geographical, social, economic and historical factors that have shaped the identity of those Roma communities which will benefit from the implementation of the project.
• Sub-activity 1.3
Training at least 36 people from the target group (6 per CIS) who will staff the Multicenter, on the principles of the function of these Multi-centres, while training all those involved on the identity, culture and history of the target group.
The duration of the programmes will be 80 hours

Identification of needs and social characteristics of the Roma community where the intervention will take place
• Sub-activity 2.2.
Identification of the needs of the local community, a study on new and emerging occupations in the market labour market. The findings of the study will be used to facilitate the integration of Roma through work.

These actions are complimentary to any kind of training and individual action that is to take place, and both reveal aspects that have to do with local conditions and
also provide material to be used during the interventions.
• Sub-activity 2.3Preparation and design of training packages for learning the Romanian language and a guide on social integration where the Roma can find solutions and answers on matters concerning the social welfare and how to make use of it.
Sub-activity 2.4A socio-historical study on the presence of the Roma in those regions and the contribution of the Roma communities to society and culture.

• Information about urban municipal status (birth, name, baptism, municipal registration, identity card, voting card,mariage, recognition of child, death)

• Diseases (aids, anemia, hepatitis, blood transfusion, blood groups)
• Personal and public hygiene (oral hygiene, gingivitis, smoking, drugs, grid, hashish, heroin, inhalants

Activity 3Training of groups of young Roma with a view to contributing to the elimination of
the social exclusion of the Roma.
• Sub-activity 3.1.Training of young Roma who have finished at least primary education, on the role of mediator in order to facilitate the access of Roma to public organizations and service providers.The mediators, besides their significant contribution, can act in unifying way which can produce conditions that encourage socialization and create a climate of cooperation and solidarity. (20 persons per target area, a total of 120 persons. Duration of training programme:100 hours)
Sub-activity 3.2Training of young Roma, who are at least high school graduates, in journalism. The aim of this action is the placement of those who successfully complete the training programme in jobs such as press offices, radio stations or other media organizations.
