DUAS FROM THE HOLY QURAN :

IMPORTANCE OF DUAS :

Duas is the most powe!u" a#tio$ o! a %e"ie&e' It #a$ #ha$(e !ate) whi"e $o a#tio$ o!

ous e&e #a$'With it we can never fail; without it we can never achieve any good.Duas should

be the first and the last resort of the believer ; with all his plans and actions coming in between.

Duas is as*i$( !om A""ah) ou Ceato) ou Lo+ , Maste )the A"" -$owi$() the A""

Powe!u"'We turn to Him because we know that He alone can lift our sufferings and solve our

problems. We feel relieved and empowered after describing our difficulties to our Creator. We

feel His overpowering mercy .

In every difficulty our first action should be Duas. We ask Allah to show us the way tohandle that difficulty; we seek His help in following the path He shows to us; we seek His aid in

making our efforts successful. We reuest ! beg from Him ! affirming our own powerlessness and

helplessness. We should make Duas for all things big and small. We should ask as a beggar to

Allah.

At the same time we shou"+ ma*e Duas with hope a$+ #o$&i#tio$ that we sha"" %e

(a$te+ ou pa.es'

THE HOLY QURAN:

(#$#'$ And He answers *the invocation of+ those who believe * in Allah alone + and do righteous

good deeds!and gives them increase of His ,ounty. And as for the disbelievers! theirs will be a

severe torment.

(#$%"$ And in whatsoever you differ!the decision thereof is with Allah *He is the ruling -udge+.*And say /uhammad pbuh+ 0uch is Allah! my )ord in Whom I put my trust! and to Him I turn

in all of my affairs and in repentance.

#1$'#$ Is not He *better than your gods+ Who responds to the distressed one! when he calls Him!

and Who removes the evil! and makes you inheritors of the earth! generations after generations.

Is there any ilah *god+ with Allah2 )ittle is that you remember3

4or Duas is the most powerful action of a believer. It can change fate! while no action of

ours ever can. With it we can never fail; without it we can never achieve any good.

In every difficulty our first action should be Duas We should make Duas for all things big

and small. We should ask as a beggar to Allah.

5here is nothing more dear to Allah than a servant making Duas to Him.

Pophet 2 p%uh3 sai+: 6A""ah is a$(. with those who +o $ot as* Him !o a$.thi$(92Timi+hi3' Why make Him mad2We should ask for all of our needs$ those related to this world

as well as those related to the Hereafter. 5hose who only concentrate on the former are ! in

effect ! announcing that they don6t care for their life in the permanent abode.5hey should blame

no body but themselves for the total ruin in that world that 7uran assures us awaits them. 5hose

who only concentrate on the later are also showing lack of balance! for we need Allah6s help to

lead a good life here as well.

We should make Duas not only for ourselves but also for our parents! brothers andsisters! spouses and children! relatives and friends! teachers and other benefactors! and destitute

and struggling /uslims everywhere. We should pray for them for the good in this world as well

as in the Hereafter.

5he 8rophet said$ 95he Duas of a /uslim for his brother *in Islam+ in his absence is readily

accepted. An angel is appointed to his side. Whenever he makes a beneficial Duas for his

brother the appointed angel says! :Aameen. And may you also be blessed with the same.60ahih

Duas !o Remo&a" o! Distess:

"#%$"& And *remember+ Ayub *-ob+! when he cried to his )ord$ JBerily! distress has afflicted me!

and Gou are the /ost /erciful of all those who show mercy.J

"#%$"&( 0o We answered his call! and We removed the distress that he had and We restored his

family to him *that he had lost+ and the like thereof along with them as a mercy from urselves

and a @eminder for all who worship ?s.

"#%$"&1 And *remember+ DhanKun *-onah+! when he went off in anger and imagined that We

shall not punish *straiten+ him 3 ,ut he cried among afflictions $ 5here is no =od but Gou none

has the right to be worshipped but Gou * Allah+< glory be to Gou ! =lorified *and Lalted+ are

Gou . 5ruly! I have been of the wrongKdoers.J

"#%$"&& 0o We answered his call! and delivered him from the distress. And thus We do deliver

the believers *who believe in the neness of Allah! abstain from evil and work righteousness+.

"#$"# And indeed We sent uh *oah+ to his people! and he said$ J my people3 Worship

Allah3 Gou have no other =od but Him. Will you not then be afraid *of Him because of

worshipping others besides Him+2J

"#$"#( ,ut the chiefs of those who disbelieved among his people said$ JHe is no more than a

human being like you! he seeks to make himself superior to you. Had Allah willed! He surely

could have sent down angels; never did we hear such a thing among our fathers of old.

"#$"#F He is only a madman! so bear with him for a time.

"#$"#' uh *oah+< said$ J my )ord3 Help me because they deny me.J

"#$"#1 0o We inspired him $ JConstruct the ship under ur yes and under ur guidance. 5hen!

when ur Command comes! and the water gushes forth ; take on board of each kind two *male

and female+! and your family! eLcept those thereof against whom the word has already goneforth. And address /e not in favour of those who have done wrong. Berily! they are to be

drowned.

"#$"#& And when you have embarked on the ship! you and whoever is with you! then say$ JAll

the praises and thanks be to Allah! Who has saved us from the unMust * oppressors ! wrongK

doers! polytheist+ people .

"#$"# And say$ J/y )ord3 Cause me to land at a blessed landingKplace! for Gou are the ,est of

those who bring to land.J

"#$"" Berily there are signs in this! and surely We are ever trying *men+.

"#'$%'F * lot said+J=o you in unto the males of the >Alamin *mankind+!

"#'$%'' JAnd leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your wives2 ay! you are a

trespassing people3J

"#'$%'1 5hey said$ JIf you cease not. )out *)ot+3 Berily! you will be one of those who are driven

out3J

"#'$%'& He said$ JI am! indeed! of those who disapprove with severe anger and fury your *this

evil+ action *of sodomy+.

"#'$%' J/y )ord3 0ave me and my family from what they do.J

"#'$%1" 0o We saved him and his family! all!

"#'$%1% Lcept an old woman *his wife+ among those who remained behind.

"#'$%1# 5hen afterward We destroyed the others.

"&$"(% And remember ur slave Ayub *-ob+! when he invoked his )ord *saying+$ JBerily3 0haitan

*0atan+ has afflicted me with distress * pain+ and torment * hardship ; suffering+.

"&$"(# *Allah said to him+$ J0trike the ground with your foot$ 5his is a spring of water to wash

in! cool and a *refreshing+ drink.J

"&$"( We gave him *back+ his family! and along with them the like thereof! as a /ercy from

?s! and a @eminder for those who understand."&$"(( JAnd take in your hand a bundle of thin grass and strike therewith *your wife+! and

break not your oath. 5ruly3 We found him patient.How eLcellent *a+ slave3 Berily! he was ever oft

returning in repentance *to ?s+.

"F($"" 5he people of uh *oah+ denied *their /essenger+ before them! they reMected ur

slave! and said$ JA madman3J and he was insolently rebuked and threatened.

"F($"%" 5hen he invoked his )ord *saying+$ JI have been overcome! so help *me+3J

"F($"%% 0o We opened the gates of heaven with water pouring forth.

"F($"%# And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs. 0o the waters *of the heaven and

the earth+ met for a matter predestined.

"F($"% And We carried him on a *ship+ made of planks and nails!

"F($"%( 4loating under ur yes! a reward for him who had been reMected3

"F($"%F And indeed! We have left this as a sign! then is there any that will remember *or receive

admonition+2

""$%# Jur )ord3 Berily! whom Gou admit to the 4ire! indeed! Gou have disgraced him! and

never will the evil *polytheists and wrongdoers+ find any helpers.J

""$% Jur )ord3 Berily! we have heard the call of one */uhammad 0AW+ calling to 4aith$

>,elieve in your )ord!> and we have believed. ur )ord3 4orgive us our sins and remit from us our

evil deeds! and make us die in the state of righteousness along with AlKAbrar *those who are

obedient to Allah and follow strictly His rders+.""$%( Jur )ord3 =rant us what Gou promised unto us through Gour /essengers and disgrace

us not on the Day of @esurrection! for Gou never break *Gour+ 8romise.J

""$%F 0o their )ord accepted of them *their supplication and answered them+! Jever will I

allow to be lost the work of any of you! be male or female. Gou are *members+ one of another!

so those who emigrated and were driven out from their homes! and suffered harm in /y Cause!

and who fought! and were killed *in /y Cause+! verily! I will remit from them their evil deeds and

admit them into =ardens under which rivers flow *in 8aradise+; a reward from Allah! and with

Allah is the best of rewards.J

""'$%'# 0ay * /uhammad 0AW+$ JBerily! my 0alat *prayer+! my sacrifice! my living! and my

dying are for Allah! the )ord of the >Alamin *mankind! Minns and all that eLists+.

"("$""1 5hose *angels+ who bear the 5hrone *of Allah+ and those around it glorify the praises of

their )ord! and believe in Him! and ask forgiveness for those who believe *in Allah alone+

*saying+$ Jur )ord3 Gou comprehend all things in mercy and knowledge! so forgive those who

repent and follow Gour Way and save them from the torment of the blaNing 4ire3

"("$""& Jur )ord3 And make them enter the gardens of eden *8aradise + which you have

promised them! and to the righteous among their fathers! their wives! and their offspring3 Berily!

Gou are the AllK/ighty! the AllKWise."("$"" JAnd save them from the sins and whomsoever Gou save from the sins that Day! on him

verily! Gou have bestowed your mercy.J And that is the supreme success.

"#'$"11 JBerily3 5hey are enemies to me! save the )ord of the >Alamin *mankind! Minns and all

that eLists+;

"#'$"1& JWho has created me! and it is He Who guides me;

"#'$"1 JAnd it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink.

"#'$"&" JAnd when I am ill! it is He who cures me;

"#'$"&% JAnd Who will cause me to die! and then will bring me to life *again+;"#'$" JAnd Who! I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of @ecompense! *the Day of

@esurrection+!J

"#'$"& J /y )ord! grant me wisdom! and Moin me with the righteous!

"#'$"&( And grant me an honourable mention in later generations;

"#'$"&F And make me one of the inheritors of the 8aradise of Delight;

"#'$"&' And forgive my father! verily he is of the erring;

"#'$"&1 And disgrace me not on the Day when *all the creatures+ will be resurrected;

"#'$"&& 5he Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail!

"#'$"& Lcept him who brings to Allah a clean * sound +heart .

"#'$"" And 8aradise will be brought near to the pious.

Duas !o Iesa *-esus+! son of /aryam */ary+! said$ J Allah! our )ord3 0end us from heaven a

table spread *with food+ that there may be for us K for the first and the last of us K a festival and

a sign from Gou; and provide us sustenance! for Gou are the ,est of sustainers.J

""F$%%F Allah said$ JI am going to send it down unto you! but if any of you after that disbelieves!

then I will punish him with a torment such as I have not inflicted on anyone among *all+ the

>Alamin *mankind and Minns+.J

""1$%FF And /usa */oses+ chose out of his people seventy men for ur appointment and when

they were seiNed with a violent earthuake! he said$ J my )ord! if it had been Gour Will! Goucould have destroyed them and me before; would Gou destroy us for the deeds of the foolish

ones among us2 It is only Gour 5rial by which Gou lead astray whom Gou will! and keep guided

whom Gou will. Gou are our Wali *8rotector+! so forgive us and have /ercy on us! for Gou are the

,est of those who forgive. J

""1$%F' J And ordain for us good in this world>s life and in the Hereafter and surely we have

turned unto Gou.J He said$ /y 8unishment I afflict therewith whom I will and /y /ercy

encompasses all things. 5hat */ercy+ I shall ordain for those who are the pious * keep their duty

towards Allah +and give charity and who believe in ur messages.

"%($"F And *remember+ when Ibrahim *Abraham pbuh+ said$ J my )ord3 /ake this city

*/akkah+ one of peace and security! and keep me and my sons away from worshipping idols.

"%($"' J my )ord3 5hey have indeed led astray many among mankind. ,ut whoso follows me!

he verily is of me. And whoso disobeys me! still Gou are indeed ftK4orgiving! /ost /erciful.

"%($"1 J our )ord3 I have made some of my offspring to dwell in an uncultivable valley by

Gour 0acred House *the a>bah at /akkah+; in order! our )ord! that they may perform

worship ! so fill some hearts among men with love towards them! and * Allah+ provide them

with fruits so that they may give thanks."%($"& J our )ord3 Certainly! Gou know what we conceal and what we reveal. othing on the

earth or in the heaven is hidden from Allah.

"%($" JAll the praises and thanks be to Allah! Who has given me in old age Ismail *Ishmael+

and Ishaue *Isaac+. Berily3 /y )ord is indeed the AllKHearer of invocations.

"%($"(" J my )ord3 /ake me one who is steadfast in prayer ! and *also+ from my offspring! our

)ord3 And accept my invocation.

"#F$"1# And those who do not witness falsehood and if they pass by some evil play or evil talk!

they pass by it with dignity.

"#F$"1 And they who! when reminded of the messages of their )ord ; fall not deaf and blind

thereat. * act like blind and deaf to his messages +.

"F$"1( And they who say$ J ur )ord! grant us in our wives and our offspring the Moy of our eyes

and make us leaders * in the piousness+ of the pious .

"#F$"1F 5hose will be rewarded with the highest place *in 8aradise+ because of their patience.

5herein they shall be met with greetings andthe word of peace and respect.

"#F$"1' Abiding therein; eLcellent it is as an abode! and as a place to dwell.

"#&$"#% 0o he * /oses pbuh + escaped from there! looking about in a state of fear. He said$ J/y

)ord3 0ave me from the people who are wrongKdoers+3J"#&$"## And when he went towards *the land of+ /adyan */idian+ he said$ JIt may be that my

)ord guides me to the @ight Way.J

"#&$"# And when he came to the water of /idian! he found there a group of men watering!

and he found besides them two womenkeeping back *their flocks+. He said$ What is the matter

with you2 5hey said$ We cannot water until the shepherds take away *theirsheep+ from the

water; and our father is a very old man.

"#&$"#( 0o he watered *their flocks+ for them! then he turned back to shade! and said$ J/y )ord3

5ruly! I am in need of whatever good that Gou bestow on me3J

"&$"( And! indeed We did try 0ulaiman *0olomon pbuh+ and We placed on his throne a

*mere+ body *so he lost his kingdom for a while+ ; then he turned to Allah in repentance.

"&$"F He said$ J/y )ord3 4orgive me! and bestow upon me a kingdom such as shall not

belong to any other after me$ Berily! Gou are the ,estower.J

"&$"' 0o! We subMected to him the wind! it blew gently to his order whithersoever he willed!

"&$"1 And also the 0hayatin *devils+ from the Minns *including+ every kind of builder and diver!

"&$"& And others fettered in chains.

"&$" 0aying of Allah to 0ulaiman *0olomon+

Duas !o Fo(i&e$ess a$+ Pa+o$=

""#$#&( 5o Allah belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is on the earth! and whether you

disclose what is in your ownselves or conceal it! Allah will call you to account for it. 5hen He

forgives whom He wills and punishes whom He wills. And Allah is Able to do all things.

""#$#&F 5he /essenger */uhammad 0AW+ believes in what has been sent down to him from his

)ord! and *so do+ the believers. ach one believes in Allah! His Angels! His ,ooks! and His

/essengers. 5hey say! JWe make no distinction between one another of His /essengersJ K and

they say! JWe hear! and we obey. *We seek+ Gour 4orgiveness! our )ord! and to Gou is the return

*of all+.J

""#$#&'$ Allah burdens not a person beyond his scope. He gets reward for that *good+ which he

has earned! and he is punished for that *evil+ which he has earned. Jur )ord3 8unish us not if we

forget or fall into error! our )ord3 )ay not on us a burden like that which Gou did lay on those

before us *-ews and Christians+; our )ord3 8ut not on us a burden greater than we have strength

to bear. 8ardon us and grant us 4orgiveness. Have mercy on us. Gou are our /aula *8atron!0upporK ter and 8rotector! etc.+ and give us victory over the disbelieving people.J

* Allah imposes not on any soul a duty beyond its scope. 4or it is that which it earns *of good+

and against it that which it works *of evil+. ur )ord! punish us not if we forget or make a

mistake. ur )ord! do not lay on us a burden as 5hou didst lay on those before us. ur )ord!

impose not on us *afflictions+ which we have not the strength to bear. And pardon us3 And grant

us protection3 And have mercy on us3 5hou art our 8atron! so grant us victory over the

disbelieving people.O+

""$"%( ,eautified for men is the love of things they covet; women! children! much of gold andsilver *wealth+! branded beautiful horses!cattle and wellKtilled land. 5his is the pleasure of the

present world>s life; but Allah has the eLcellent return *8aradise+ with Him.

""$"%F 0ay$ J0hall I inform you of things far better than those $ 4or *the pious+ those who guard

against evil there are =ardens *8aradise+ with their )ord! in which rivers flow. 5herein * will be

their+ eternal *home+ and pure companions *mates+ and Allah will be well pleased with them and

Allah is AllK0eer of the *His+ slaves .

""$"%' 5hose who say$ Jur )ord3 We have indeed believed! so forgive us our sins and save us

from the punishment of the 4ire.

""$"%1 *5hey are+ those who are patient ; truthfull and obedient with sincere devotion in

worship to Allah. 5hose who spend give the Pakat and alms in the Way of Allah< and those who

pray and beg Allah>s 8ardon in the last hours of the night.

"'"$""( Indeed there has been an eLcellent eLample for you in Ibrahim *Abraham+ and those

with him! when they said to their people$ JBerily! we are free from you and whatever you

worship besides Allah! we have reMected you! and there has started between us and you! hostility

and hatred for ever! until you believe in Allah Alone!J eLcept the saying of Ibrahim *Abraham+ to

his father$ JBerily! I will ask for forgiveness *from Allah+ for you! but I have no power to do

anything for you before Allah. Jur )ord3 In Gou *Alone+ we put our trust! and to Gou *Alone+ we

turn in repentance! and to Gou *Alone+ is *our+ final @eturn!"'"$""F Jur )ord3 /ake us not a trial for the disbelievers! and forgive us! ur )ord3 Berily! Gou!

only Gou are the AllK/ighty! the /ost Wise.

""#$%#& Jur )ord3 And make us submissive unto Gou and of our offspring a nation submissive

unto Gou! and show us our /anasik *all the ceremonies of pilgrimage K HaMM and >?mrah! etc.+!

and accept our repentance. 5ruly! Gou are the ne Who accepts repentance! the /ost /erciful.

""1$%F% /usa */oses+ said$ J my )ord3 4orgive me and my brother! and admit us into Gour

"%%$"(' He said$ J uh *oah+3 0urely! he is not of your family; verily! his work is unrighteous!

so ask not of /e that of which you have no knowledge3 I admonish you! lest you be one of the

ignorants.J

"%%$"(1 uh *oah+ said$ J my )ord3 I seek refuge with Gou from asking Gou that of which I

have no knowledge. And unless Gou forgive me and have /ercy on me! I would indeed be one

of the losers.J

"%($"(% Jur )ord3 4orgive me and my parents! and *all+ the believers on the Day when the

reckoning will be established.J

"#$%%& And say * /uhammad 0AW+$ J/y )ord3 4orgive and have mercy! for Gou are the ,est

of those who show mercy3J

"#&$"%F And he went into the city at a time of carelessness on the part of its people! so he found

therein two men fighting ;one being of his party and the other of his foes and he who was of his

party cried out to him for help against him who was of his enemies! so /oses struck him with

his fist and killed him. He said$ 5his is on account of the devil6s doing; surely he is an enemy!

openly leading astray.

"#&$"%' He said$ J/y )ord3 Berily! I have wronged myself! so forgive me.J 5hen He forgave him.

Berily! He is the ftK4orgiving! the /ost /erciful.

"#&$"%1 He said$ J/y )ord3 4or that with which Gou have favoured me! I will never more be a

helper for the sinners3J

"&$"( And! indeed We did try 0ulaiman *0olomon pbuh+ and We placed on his throne a

*mere+ body *so he lost his kingdom for a while+ ; then he turned to Allah in repentance."&$"F He said$ J/y )ord3 4orgive me! and bestow upon me a kingdom such as shall not

belong to any other after me$ Berily! Gou are the ,estower.J

that eLists+.""%$"" 5he /ost ,eneficent! the /ost /erciful.5he nly wner *and the nly @uling -udge+ of

the Day of @ecompense *i.e. the Day of @esurrection.

and he found besides them two womenkeeping back *their flocks+. He said$ What is the matter

with you2 5hey said$ We cannot water until the shepherds take away *theirsheep+ from the

water; and our father is a very old man.

"#&$"#( 0o he watered *their flocks+ for them! then he turned back to shade! and said$ J/y )ord3

5ruly! I am in need of whatever good that Gou bestow on me3J

"1$" And he *Abraham pbuh+ said *after his rescue from the fire+$ JBerily! I am going to my)ord. He will guide me3J

"#'$"11 JBerily3 5hey are enemies to me! save the )ord of the >Alamin *mankind! Minns and all

that eLists+;

"#'$"1& JWho has created me! and it is He Who guides me;

"#'$"1 JAnd it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink.

"#'$"&" JAnd when I am ill! it is He who cures me;

"#'$"&% JAnd Who will cause me to die! and then will bring me to life *again+;

"#'$" JAnd Who! I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of @ecompense! *the Day of@esurrection+!J

which they worship! eLcept Allah! then seek refuge in the Cave! your )ord will open a way for

you from His /ercy and will make easy for you your affair.

Gour /ercy! for you are the /ost /erciful of those who show mercy. J

"#$%%& And say * /uhammad 0AW+$ J/y )ord3 4orgive and have mercy! for Gou are the ,est

of those who show mercy3J

""1$%#F 5hey said$ JBerily! we are returning to our )ord.

""1$%#' And you take vengeance on us only because we believed in the messages of our )ord

when they reached us3 Jur )ord3 pour out on us patience! and cause us to die as /uslims.J

"#1$"%F And indeed We gave knowledge to Dawud *David+ and 0ulaiman *0olomon+! and they

both said$ JAll the praises and thanks be to Allah! Who has preferred us above many of His

believing slaves3J

"#1$"%' And 0ulaiman *0olomon+ inherited *the knowledge of+ Dawud *David+. He said$ J

mankind3 We have been taught the language of birds! and on us have been bestowed all things.

5his! verily! is an evident grace *from Allah+.J"#1$"%1 And his hosts of the Minn and the men and the birds were gathered to 0olomon! and

they were formed into groups.

"#1$"%& 5ill! when they came to the valley of the ants! one of the ants said$ J ants3 nter your

dwellings! lest 0ulaiman *0olomon+ and his hosts crush you! while they perceive not.J

"#1$"% 0o he 0ulaiman *0olomon+< smiled! amused at her speech and said$ J/y )ord3 Inspire

and bestow upon me the power and ability that I may be grateful for Gour 4avours which Gou

have bestowed on me and on my parents! and that I may do righteous good deeds that will

please Gou! and admit me by Gour /ercy among Gour righteous slaves.J

"#"$%% And thus have We sent it down an Arabic 7uran! and have distinctly set forth therein of

threats that they may guard against evil! or that it may be a reminder for them.

"#"$%%( 5hen High above all be Allah! the 5rue ing. And be not in haste * /uhammad 0AW+

with the 7uran before its revelation is completed to you! and say$ J/y )ord3 Increase me in

knowledge.J

""#$#( 5hen when 5alut *0aul+ set out with the army! he said$ JBerily3 Allah will try you by a

river. 0o whoever drinks thereof! he is not of me!and whoever tastes it not! he is of me! eLcept

him who takes *thereof+ in the hollow of his hand.J Get! they drank thereof! all! eLcept a few of

them. 0o when he had crossed it *the river+! he and those who believed with him! they said$ JWe

have no power this day against -alut *=oliath+ and his hosts.J ,ut those who knew with certainty

that they were to meet their )ord! said$ JHow often a small group overcame a mighty host by

Allah>s )eave2J And Allah is with AsK0abirin *the patient ones! etc.+.

""#$#F" And when they advanced to meet -alut *=oliath+ and his forces! they invoked$ Jur

)ord3 8our forth on us patience and make us victorious over the disbelieving people.J

""#$#F% 0o they routed them by Allah>s )eave and Dawud *David+ killed -alut *=oliath+! and Allah

gave him Dawud *David+< the kingdom after the death of 5alut *0aul+ and 0amuel< and AlK

Hikmah *8rophethood+! and taught him of that which He willed. And if Allah did not check one

set of people by means of another! the earth would indeed be full of mischief. ,ut Allah is full of,ounty to the >Alamin *mankind! Minns and all that eLists+.

""$%(' And many a 8rophet *i.e. many from amongst the 8rophets+ fought *in Allah>s Cause+

and along with him *fought+ large bands of religious learned men. ,ut they never lost heart for

that which did befall them in Allah>s Way! nor did they weaken nor degrade themselves. And

Allah loves steadfast .

""$%(1 And they said nothing but$ Jur )ord3 4orgive us our sins and our transgressions *in

keeping our duties to Gou+! establish our feet firmly! and give us victory over the disbelieving

folk.J""$%(& 0o Allah gave them the reward of this world! and the eLcellent reward of the Hereafter.

And Allah loves the doers of good * righteous deeds +.

*@emember+ When you sought help of your )ord and He answered you *saying+$ JI will help you

with a thousand of the angels each behind the other *following one another+ in succession.J

""&$"%" Allah made it only as glad tidings and that your hearts be at rest thereby. And there is

no victory eLcept from Allah. Berily! Allah is AllK /ighty! AllKWise

"%#$" He said$J my )ord3 8rison is more to my liking than that to which they invite me.

?nless Gou turn away their plot from me! I will feel inclined towards them and be one * like them

of sinners + of the ignorants.J

"%#$"( 0o his )ord answered his invocation and turned away from him their plot. Berily! He is

the AllK Hearer! the AllKnower.

"#"$"#( * Allah said+ =o to 8haraoh! surely he has eLceeded the limits.

"#"$"#F /usa */oses+ pbuh< said$ J my )ord3 eLpand my breast for me *grant me courage to

do so+.

"#"$"#' JAnd ease my task for me;

"#"$"#1 And loose the knot from my tongue!* remove incorrectness from my speech +"#"$"#& J5hat they understand my speech!

"#"$"# JAnd appoint for me a helper from my family!

"#"$"" JHarun *Aaron+! my brother;

"#"$"# JAnd let him share my task *of conveying Allah>s /essage +!

"#"$"( JAnd remember Gou much!

"#"$"' Allah said$ JGou are granted your reuest! /usa */oses pbuh+3

"#$"#& And *remember+ )out *)ot+! when he said to his people$ JGou commit AlK4ahishah

*sodomy the worst sin+ which none has preceded you in *committing+ it in the >Alamin * mankind

and Minns +.J

"#$"# JBerily! you do sodomy with men! and rob the wayfarer *travellers+ And practise evil

deeds in your assemblies.J ,ut his people gave no answer eLcept! that they said$ J,ring Allah>s

5orment upon us if you are one of the truthful.J

"#$"" He said$ J/y )ord3 =ive me victory over the people who are /ufsidun *those who

commit great crimes and sins! oppressors! tyrants! mischiefK makers! corrupts+.

2 Destu#tio$ o! Dis%e"ie&es:3

"1%$"#' And uh *oah+ said$ J/y )ord3 )eave not one of the disbelievers on the earth3

"1%$"#1 JIf Gou leave them! they will mislead Gour slaves! and they will beget none but wicked

disbelievers.J

"1%$"#& J/y )ord3 4orgive me! and my parents! and him who enters my home as a believer! and

all the believing men and women. And to the wrongKdoers * disbelievers + grant Gou no increase

but destruction3J

"%"$"&& And /usa */oses+ said$ Jur )ord3 Gou have indeed bestowed on 4ir>aun *8haraoh+ andhis chiefs splendour and wealth in the life of

this world! our )ord3 5hat they may lead men astray from Gour 8ath. ur )ord3 Destroy their

wealth! and harden their hearts! so that

they will not believe until they see the painful torment.J

"%"$"& Allah said$ JBerily! the invocation of you both is accepted. 0o you both keep to the

straight path *i.e. keep on doing good deeds and preaching Allah>s /essage with patience+! and

follow not the path of those who know not *the truth i.e. to believe in the neness of Allah! and

also to believe in the @eward of Allah$ 8aradise! etc.+.J

"%"$"" And We brought the Children of Israel across the sea. 5hen 8haraoh and his hostsfollowed them for oppression and tyranny! till!when drowning overtook him! he said$ I believe

that there is no god but He in Whom the Children of Israel believe! and I am of those who

submit.

"#'$%%1 He *oah + said$ J/y )ord3 Berily! my people have belied me.

"#'$%%& 5herefore Mudge Gou between me and them! and save me and those of the believers

who are with me.J

"#'$%% And We saved him and those with him in the laden ship.

"#'$%#" 5hen We drowned the rest *disbelievers+ thereafter

"#'$%'F * lot said+J=o you in unto the males of the >Alamin *mankind+!"#'$%'' JAnd leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your wives2 ay! you are a

trespassing people3J

"#'$%'1 5hey said$ JIf you cease not. )out *)ot+3 Berily! you will be one of those who are driven

out3J

"#'$%'& He said$ JI am! indeed! of those who disapprove with severe anger and fury your *this

evil+ action *of sodomy+.

"#'$%' J/y )ord3 0ave me and my family from what they do.J

"#'$%1" 0o We saved him and his family! all!"#'$%1% Lcept an old woman *his wife+ among those who remained behind.

"#'$%1# 5hen afterward We destroyed the others.

"%#$%"% J/y )ord3 Gou have indeed bestowed on me of the sovereignty! and taught me the

interpretation of dreams; 5he *only+ Creator of the heavens and the earth3 Gou are my Wali

*8rotector! Helper! 0upporter! =uardian.+ in this world and in the Hereafter! cause me to die in

submission * to you i.e. submitting to Gour Will+! and Moin me with the righteous.J

"%$""'. JWho shall inherit me! and inherit *also+ the posterity of Ga>ub *-acob+ *inheritance of

the religious knowledge and 8rophethood! not the wealth! etc.+. And make him! my )ord! one

with whom Gou are WellKpleased3J.

"%$""1. *Allah said+ J Pakariya *Pachariah+3 Berily! We give you the glad tidings of a son! His

name will be Gahya *-ohn+. We have given that name to none before *him+.J

"%$""&. He said$ J/y )ord3 How can I have a son! when my wife is barren! and I have reachedthe eLtreme old age.J

"%$"". He said$ J0o *it will be+. Gour )ord says; It is easy for /e. Certainly I have

created you before! when you had been nothing3J

"%$"%". Pakariya *Pachariah+< said$ J/y )ord3 Appoint for me a sign.J He said$ JGour sign is that

you shall not speak unto mankind for three nights! though having no bodily defect.J

"%$"%%. 5hen he came out to his people from AlK/ihrab *a praying place or a private room!

etc.+! he told them by signs to glorify Allah>s 8raises in the morning and in the afternoon.

"%$"%#. *It was said to his son+$ J Gahya *-ohn+3 Hold fast the 0cripture the 5aurat *5orah+

"('$"% Berily! those who say$ Jur )ord is *only+ Allah!J and thereafter hence continue on the

right way *i.e. stood firm and straight on the Islamic 4aith of /onotheism by abstaining from all

kinds of sins and evil deeds which Allah has forbidden and by performing all kinds of good

deeds which He has ordained+! on them shall be no fear! nor shall they grieve.

"('$"%( 0uch shall be the dwellers of 8aradise! abiding therein *forever+! a reward for what they

used to do."('$"%F And We have enMoined on man to be dutiful and kind to his parents. His mother bears

him with hardship and she brings him forth with hardship! and the bearing of him! and the

weaning of him is thirty *"+ months! till when he attains full strength and reaches forty years! he

says$ J/y )ord3 =rant me the power and ability that I may be grateful for Gour 4avour which Gou

have bestowed upon me and upon my parents! and that I may do righteous good deeds! such

as please Gou! and make my offKspring good. 5ruly! I have turned to Gou in repentance! and

truly! I am one of those who submit * to Gour Will+.J

"('$"%' 5hey are those from whom We shall accept the best of their deeds and overlook their

evil deeds. *5hey shall be+ among the dwellers of 8aradise! a promise of truth! which they havebeen promised.

""1$"&& 5he chiefs of those who were arrogant among his people said$ JWe shall certainly drive

you out! 0huaib and those who have believed with you from our town or else you shall return

to our religion.J He said$ Jven though we hate it3

""1$"& JWe should have invented a lie against Allah if we returned to your religion! after Allah

has rescued us from it. And it is not for us to return to it unless Allah our )ord! should will. ur)ord comprehends all things in His nowledge. In Allah *Alone+ we put our trust. J ur )ord3

-udge between us and our people in truth! for Gou are the ,est of those who give Mudgment.J

""#$%#1 And *remember+ when Ibrahim *Abraham+ and *his son+ Isma>il *Ishmael+ were raising

the foundations of the House *the a>bah at /akkah+! *saying+! Jur )ord3 Accept *this service+

from us. Berily3 Gou are the AllKHearer! the AllK nower.J

""$"F *@emember+ when the wife of Imran said$ J my )ord3 I have vowed to Gou what *the

child that+ is in my womb to be devoted for Gour service ! so accept this! from me. Berily! Gou

are the AllKHearer! the AllKnowing.J

""$"' 5hen when she delivered her child ! she said$ J my )ord3 I have delivered a female

child!J K and Allah knew best what she delivered! K JAnd the male is not like the female! and I

have named her /aryam */ary+! and I seek refuge with Gou *Allah+ for her and for her offspring

from 0haitan *0atan+! the outcast.J

""$"1. And her )ord accepted her with full acceptance and vouchsafed to her a goodly

growth; and made Pachariah her guardian.Whenever Pachariah went into the sanctuary whereshe was! he found that she had food. He said$ /ary3 4rom where have you got this *food+2 0he

answered$ It is from Allah. Berily! Allah provides sustenance to whom He wills! without limit.J
