WHAT IS TUNNELING A tunnel is an underground or underwater passageway, dug through the

surrounding soil/earth/rock and enclosed except for entrance and exit,

WHAT IS SHOTCRETE

Shotcrete is concrete conveyed through a hose andpneumatically projected at high velocity onto a surface, as a constructiontechnique.

Shotcrete undergoes placement and compaction at the same time due tothe force with which it is projected from the nozzle.

Shotcrete is a process not a product.

TYPES OF SHOTCRETE Dry Shotcrete:-The dry mix method involves placing the dry ingredients into a

hopper and then conveying them pneumatically through a hose to the nozzle. The

nozzleman controls the addition of water at the nozzle. The water and the dry mixtureis not completely mixed, but is completed as the mixture hits the receiving surface

Wet Shotcrete :- Wet-mix shotcrete involves pumping of a previously prepared

concrete, typically ready-mixed concrete, to the nozzle. Compressed air is introducedat the nozzle to impel the mixture onto the receiving surface. The wet-gun proceduregenerally produces less rebound, waste and dust. In wet-mix process larger volumes

can be placed in less time.

Good adhesion qualities.

Low permeability.

Good thermal resistance.

Creates tight envelopes.

Resistant to expansion.

Bears its own weight.

Rapid construction method.

Less wastage of material.

Easy access to every part of site.

Easier material handling.

Less cost incurred per square meter.

Low absorption and good resistance to weathering.

Resistance to some form of chemical attacks.

It requires very portable plant for access hence reducing expenses.
