GETTING STARTED

This is a guide for installing the Map Intelligence Client. The client installation is a two-step process.

SelectionToolkit.exe

The first step of the process is installing the Map Intelligence Dashboard Client (the component BQY and

related files) into the local “\Map Intelligence\Dashboard Client” directory.

The BQY Upgrade Finder will also be included. This tool will assist in the upgrading of existing Map Intelligence

dashboards. For further information on updating existing dashboards, see the Administrator Configuration

Section of the Map Intelligence Dashboard Client User Manual.

The second step of the process is installing the Map Intelligence Selection Toolkit (MI Toolkit), this registers the

necessary files to enable the Selection feature to work.

BEFORE BEGINNING THE INSTALLATION

Ensure that the following is set up and available before installing the Map Intelligence Dashboard Client:

Verify that there is ample local disk space present (approximately 10Mb is required).

Verify that the following applications are installed on the target machine:

Windows system (NT, 2000, XP)

Hyperion Intelligence Designer 8.2 (or higher) or Brio 6.6 or Hyperion System 9 BI+ Interactive

Reporting Studio

Hyperion Intelligence Dashboard Builder 8.2 (or higher) or Hyperion System 9 BI+ Dashboard Studio

Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher

HYPERION PRODUCTS

This manual uses the following names to describe Hyperion products.

Hyperion Intelligence Designer means Hyperion Intelligence Designer, Hyperion System 9 BI+

Interactive Reporting Studio.

Hyperion Intelligence Dashboard Builder means Hyperion Intelligence Dashboard Builder 8.2,

Hyperion System 9 BI+ Dashboard Studio.

Please note that Hyperion Intelligence Dashboard Builder must be registered on the target

machine for the component installation to work.

The MI Selection Toolkit supports the following Operating Systems: Windows 2000,

Windows XP, Windows NT

MAP INTELLIGENCE DASHBOARD CLIENT

The Map Intelligence Client installation will install the component BQY and related files into the local “\Map

Intelligence\Dashboard Client” directory.

You will need to have local Machine Administrator Privileges to be able to install the Map Intelligence Client.

INSTALLING MAP INTELLIGENCE DASHBOARD CLIENT

1. From the Map Intelligence Menu, click on Dashboard Client Install, to begin installing the Map Intelligence

The Welcome to InstallShield dialog box will appear.

2. Click the Next button.

The License Agreement dialog box will appear.

3. It is important that you read and understand the terms and conditions of the license agreement and that

you are suitably authorized to accept its terms. If so, click the Yes button to accept the terms and

conditions.

The Customer Information dialog box will appear.

4. Complete the User Name and Company Name fields and click the Next button.

The Start Copying Files dialog box will appear with a summary of the program settings.

5. If you are satisfied with the current settings, click the Next button.

The InstallShield Wizard Complete will appear

Before you can use the Map Intelligence Dashboard Client, you must restart your computer.

6. Select the appropriate radio button to either restart the computer now or at a later time.

7. Click the Finish button.

UNINSTALLING MAP INTELLIGENCE DASHBOARD CLIENT

To uninstall the Map Intelligence Dashboard Client:

1. Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.

2. From the Add/Remove Programs window, select Map Intelligence Selection Toolkit and click the

Change/Remove button.

3. A Confirm File Deletion dialog box will appear. Click the OK button.

4. The Maintenance Complete window will appear. Click the Finish button.

MI SELECTION TOOLKIT

The MI Selection Toolkit is required in order for the Selection feature of Map Intelligence to return selected

data to the dashboard. The MI Selection Toolkit installation will install the Microsoft SOAP Toolkit 2.0 SP2 and

register the MapIntelligenceSelection.dll file.

You will need to have local Machine Administrator Privileges to be able to install the MI Selection Toolkit.

NOTE: The MI Selection Toolkit needs to be installed on all end user machines that want to

take advantage of Map Intelligence’s Selection feature.

INSTALLING THE MI SELECTION TOOLKIT

1. From the Map Intelligence Menu, click on Selection Toolkit Install, to begin installing the MI Selection

Toolkit

The Welcome dialog box will appear. Please read the instructions and warnings on the screen.

2. Click the Next button.

3. The Information dialog box will appear. This explains the files that will be installed on the machine.

4. Click the Next button.

The License Agreement dialog box will appear.

5. It is important that you read and understand the terms and conditions of the license agreement and that

you are suitably authorized to accept its terms. If so, click the Yes button to accept the terms and

conditions.

The Choose Destination Location dialog box will appear.

6. Click the Browse button if the default path is unsuitable. Navigate to the location where you want the

program installed and click the OK button.

7. Click the Next button.

The Start Copying Files dialog box will appear.

8. Click the Next button.

9. An Information message will appear informing you the Microsoft SOAP Toolkit setup is about to start. Click

the OK button.

The Welcome to the Microsoft SOAP Toolkit 2.0 SP2 Setup Wizard will appear.

10. Click the Next button.

11. The End-User License Agreement window will appear.

12. It is important that you read and understand the terms and conditions of the license agreement and that

you are suitably authorized to accept its terms. If so, select the I accept the terms in the License

Agreement radio button and click the Next button.

The Customer Information dialog box will appear.

13. Complete the User Name and Organization fields and click the Next button.

The Choose Setup Type window will appear.

14. Select the Complete option.

The Ready to Install window will appear.

15. Click the Install button.

The installation process will now begin.

16. Click the Finish button on the Complete dialog box.

The Selection Toolkit Configuration dialog box will appear

If you use a proxy server to contact Map Intelligence, you may need to specify the name and port number

of the proxy server.

17. Check the Use a proxy server to contact Map Intelligence checkbox, enter the Proxy Name and Proxy Port

fields.

18. To close the Selection Toolkit Configuration dialog box, click OK button

A message box will appear saying that your settings were saved successfully.

19. Click OK button

The Setup Summary dialog box will appear.

20. Click the Finish button. The MI Selection toolkit will now be installed on your machine. Please ensure that

this toolkit is installed on all other user machines that would need to make use of the Selection feature.

UNINSTALLING THE MI SELECTION TOOLKIT

If you want to uninstall the MI Selection Toolkit, you will need to uninstall both MapIntelligenceSelection.dll

and Microsoft SOAP Toolkit 2.0 SP2. These are two separate operations. The steps are outlined below:

1. Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.

2. From the Add/Remove Programs window, select Map Intelligence Selection Toolkit and click the Remove

button.

3. A Confirm File Deletion dialog box will appear. Click the OK button.

4. The Maintenance Complete window will appear. Click the Finish button.

5. From the Add/Remove Programs window, select Microsoft SOAP Toolkit 2.0 SP2 and click the Remove

button.

6. Click the Yes button on the Confirmation dialog box. The MI Selection Toolkit will now be removed from

the machine. Note that the Map Intelligence Selection feature will no longer be able to return selected

data to the dashboard.
