    1. INSPECTION PROTOCOL

    To ensure a standard, objective inspection procedure, we have developed an inspection protocol to provide institutions with a risk management tool based on preventive maintenance. This protocol covers Physio-Trace Inc. slings and was developed based on the requirements and recommendations in the following norms and standards:

    • CSA/ISO1 10535: 2006 (Canadian Standards Association or CSA Group) • OSHA 29 CFR 1910.184 (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) • ANSl2/ASME B30.9 (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) • WSTDA-WS-1 (Web Sling & Tie Down Association) • BS 3481 (British Standard) ___________________

    DO NOT PULLthe handles and straps in the opposite direction.

    2. INPSECTION METHODOLOGY

    The following steps are required for a complete inspection:

    • Lay out the sling on a flat surface in a well-lit area.

    • Inspect both sides of the sling.

    • Inspect all of the seams.

    • Inspect every strap. (1) • Inspect every handle. (2) • Inspect the fabric and netting. (3) • Inspect the leg supports. (4) • Inspect the label. (5)

    This sling must be tested (inspect the sling, straps, and handles) before being used by a patient. Do not use if fabric is torn or shows excessive ware.

    The fabric should be inspected every 6 months to ensure its stability & durability.Write the inspection dates in the space above.

    If you have CHECKED ANY NON-COMPLIANT BOXES, stop using this sling, remove it from use, and notify

    your supervisor.
