to Hsla Zoh-Taung

Dear Mrs . Roosevelt:

I have your letter or June 12, 1947 with ita enclosed correspondence f rom Kr. Hala Zoh-Taung or Singapore who wishes to come to the Uni ted States.

-

I t is not cl ear whether Mr. Bela has appli ed a t the America n Consulate General at Singapore for a visa to enter the United States. The Department is oo.munlcating with that office and ie suggesting that if Mr. Haia haa not already taken up the question or obtaining a visa he be invi ted to call in order that hla caae may be discussed with him .

In view or the r esponaibillty placed upon oonaular officers for arriving at deolalons regarding the eligibil ity or aliens t o r eceive v1aaa, I believe r ou will agree that it would be dee1rable for the Coneulate General at Singapore to have the 1nforaat1on contained in Kr . Baia 1 e ooamunioation and I have, therefore, forwarded a oopr thereof to that office !or ita oont1dent1al information.

As to Kr. Hsia 'e reference to inau!!io1ent travel money, there is or course nothing the Department or the Consulate General can do to aesist him in this reepeot.

Faithfully yours,

Enolosuree : 1. From Kr. Hai a,

Karch 20 and June 4,~. 1~7.

2 . To Kr .ttaia, April 1, 1947.
