Substations Committee Scope Substations Committee ScopeThe treatment of all matters in which the dominant factors are the electrical and structural design including environmental concerns, construction, installation, operation and control of automatic, partially automatic and manual substations including switching stations, transformer stations and generating station switchyards. Included in the scope of this Committee shall be treatment of the following:

• Automatic and Supervisory Control Systems• Data Acquired Within Sub-stations• Fundamental Single Line Wiring Diagrams• Insulation Coordination• Gas Insulated Design. except assemblies• Bus Design for Substations• D.C. Stations• Environmental Concerns in Substation Design• Substation Safety• Substation Grounding• Substation Capacitor Banks, and• Substation Seismic Design

Matters relating to particular application requirements in substations may be treated jointly with appropriate Committees that have responsibility for substation design, performance and standards

Substations Committee ObjectivesSubstations Committee Objectives

OBJECTIVES:

Main Objective:

Disseminate Technical Information to Engineers for the benefit of Society.

Accomplished by:

►Standards and Guides Development.

► Conduct paper reviews in accordance with Technical Council requirements.

► Panel sessions paper session at the General Meeting and T&D Conference.

► Promote Increased Interaction with Other Entities of the IEEE and Other Professional Organizations such as CIGRE.

► Help engineers expand their experience and knowledge through participation of working groups standard developments and by offering tutorial related to substation design and engineering.

► Nominate qualified Substations Committee members for the IEEE senior and fellow member grades.

► Promote the participations of the new engineers in the activities of the Substations Committee and provide Incentives for Student Participation in the Committee Activities. This will insure
