1.) What are the basic units of analysis for speech? Name 5 different basic units.-> 1p

2) Briefly describe the lack of invariance in speech processing.-> 1p

3) Fill in the missing EEG brain waves and frequency ranges! -> 1p

There are five different brain waves – Beta which we operate in most of the time (??? Hz), ??? which is a much more relaxed state (7.5-13Hz), Theta which is an even slower state that is often a product of REM sleep (???) but can also be entered into through tasks that are so automatic they don’t engage our immediate attention such a driving or taking a bath. ??? brain waves are even slower than Theta (0.5-4Hz) and are found in deep sleep. ??? are very fast brain waves that we know the least about (??? Hz).

1) Broca’s area and the surrounding left inferior frontal gyrus (LIFG) are the proposed basis of different cognitive functions. a)Name at least three different functions, and describe one in more detail? b) Describe a neurocognitive study that provides evidence for LIFG involvement in language processingc) What is meant by the ‘convergence zone’ metaphor of LIFG?

-> 5p

2) Name and describe 5 different components of the ERP. What exactly is the ERP, and how is it computed? Do you know a study that selectively increased one component of the ERP?
