1 Peter 2 9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal
priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that
ye should shew forth the praises (excellence;
virtue) of Him Who hath called you out of darkness
into His marvelous light:
God has chosen us to be His Own People:
As the sons and daughters of God, we are royalty;
Set aside unto God, we are priests.
2
To show forth the Goodness
of God in this world.
17 Honor all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God.
Honor the king.
3
All men are created in the likeness and image
of God, and He loves each one.
God made them; God loves them;
Certainly we should value them and
show them Truth.
Love the brotherhood.
4
Love is stronger than blood.
The spiritual bond among Christians is absolute.
God is our Father.
Jesus is our elder brother.
Galatians 6:9-10 (KJV) And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especiallyunto them who are of the household of faith.
5
The verb “fear” (phobeisthe) here does not mean to be in terror, but awe and reverence that leads to obedience … One will never truly respect people until he reverences God.
The Bible Knowledge Commentary: An Exposition of the Scriptures by Dallas Seminary Faculty
6
Neither fear of God nor love of
God exists without obedience:
Willingly submitting self to what God
says, just because God said it.
1 John 4:19-21 (NIV) We love because HE first
loved us. If anyone says, "I love God," yet hates his
brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love
his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love
God, whom he has not seen. And HE has given us
this command: Whoever loves God must also love
his brother.
7
His policies may be wrong.
His intentions may be destructive.
He may end the leadership of the U.S.

18 Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear;
not only to the good and gentle, but also to the
froward. 19 For this is thankworthy, if a man for
conscience toward God endure grief, suffering
wrongfully. 20 For what glory is it, if, when ye be
buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently?
but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it
patiently, this is acceptable with God. 21 For even
hereunto were ye called: because Christ also
suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye
should follow His steps:
18 Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear;
not only to the good and gentle, but also to the
froward (warped; crooked).
10
Almost anyone will work well for a good and
gentle boss; that’s easy.
But to submit ourselves to a warped rascal who
abuses his power and mistreats his employees
Is not so easy.
19 For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience
toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.
11
He cares more for the Lord and the
Cause of Christ than for himself.
20 For what glory is
it, if, when ye be buffeted
for your faults, ye shall
take it patiently? but
if, when ye do wel l , and
suffer for it, ye take it
patiently, this is
acceptable with God.
