HISTORY OVERVIEW

1. For reasons not totally apparent to the current ROPOA board, and most of the homeowners the developer was allowed to develop the community with streets and sewers that did not meet Maryville City standards

2. The Royal Oaks community was annexed with maintenance of streets and sewers excluded from city of Maryville’s responsibilities

MOVING FORWARD

1. The Royal Oaks community would like to become fully annexed without exposing the city of Maryville to any financial risk beyond what is normal for any other community in the city

2. We would like to have streets and sewers accepted by the city and Royal Oaks would advance the City sufficient monies to “normalize” the financial risks

PVC vs. Ductile Iron Sewer Pipes

The city of Maryville prefers ductile iron for sewer pipes. However:– There are advantages and disadvantages to all

types of sewer pipes– PVC pipes are proving to have very long useful

lives. Experts are now estimating life spans in the range of 100 years.

– PVC is now in use by many communities (see list attached). 85% of the largest 100 cities in the US use PVC in their waste water applications.
