I would like to welcome all officials and competitors to Kuala Lumpur for the 5th
WGKF Karate Championship 2019.
Karate has evolved into a popular sport here in Malaysia, and has proven to be
a sport where Malaysians have shown terrier day potential and skills. This is clearly
seen from the growing contribution to the nation’s international achievements.
Besides being a sport with tremendous potential karate is also a proven activity
which promotes positive character and discipline. It is therefore timely, that these
Championship are being held here in Malaysia. I am confident the hosting of this
championship will assist in promoting the sport besides providing invaluable
opportunity for our athletes to compete with other international talents.
I wish the best to all the participants and as for our foreign athletes, we wish you
a fruitful stay and that will enable to bring back a little of Kuala Lumpur with you.

The 5TH WGKF Championship will be conducted in accordance with the
New Rules of the World Karate Federation (WKF), which were adopted on
January 2019 for Senior, Juniors & Cadets.
For Children under 13 years, COMPETITION RULES will be used.
1.1 In case of a disagreement in the interpretation of rules, the English
text of the rules shall prevail. Any unforeseen incident not covered by
the Rules shall be dealt with accordingly in the following manner:
1.2 Technical questions shall be resolved in accordance with the WKF
or Competition Rules.
1.3 Cases of general nature shall be resolved in accordance with the
WKF Statutes and Rules.

6. VICTORY CEREMONIES
6.1 The Victory Ceremonies shall be held after completion of every 5 – 8
categories.
6.2 First Prize: Gold Medals and Diplomas to the first winner in each
category.
Second Prize: Silver Medals and Diplomas to contestant placed in the
second in each category.
Third Prize: Two Bronze Medals and Diplomas to the two semifinalists
in each category.
All participating teams required to bring along your country flag
and national Anthem
7. CLOSING DATE
7.1 The Closing date for all entries will be on 31st August 2019 (Extended)
7.2 The organizing committee wishes to have your Nation’s
confirmation of participation, once you have received the

8. DURATION OF BOUT
The official duration of Kumite matches will be three (3) minutes for men,
women and Under 21, two (2) minutes for Junior, Cadet and for under 13
years will be 1.5 minutes.
9. DRESS CODE
All contestants and team officials (coaches, managers, etc.), Referees and
judges must wear similar to the prescribed uniforms as defined in Appendix
1 of the WKF Rules.
10. EXPENSES
10.1 Participation Fees –€35.00 per contestant
–€120.00 per team (Kata or Kumite)
10.2 Additional Categories – €35.00 per Individual Category
10.3 Referees Seminar (Briefing) – €35 per head
10.4 Referee Course (for WGKF license) – €100 per head
10.5 Coaches Seminar (Briefing) – €35 per head
10.6 Coaches Course (for WGKF license) – €100 per head
10.7 Master’s Seminar – €35 per head
11. SAFETY EQUIPMENT
11.1 Mitts, foot protection, mouth guards are compulsory for all
categories.
11.2 Body protectors are optional.
11.3 Mitts, mouth guards belts and body protection must be provided by
the athletes themselves.

TERMS OF RESPONSIBILITY

enrolled to participate in the 5th WKGF Karate Championships, which will be held in Kuala Lumpur,
Malaysia, from 16th – 22nd September 2019, with full knowledge of the Statutes, the Rules and the
Norms of the organiser, pledge myself to faithfully accomplish the regulations of this before mentioned
entity, and I take any and all administrative, civil and criminal responsibilities of whatever happens to
our athletes, coaches and other members of our delegation participating in this championship, before,
during and after the competition, such as physical injuries, personal expenses, or monetary debts and
casual material damages to the hotels, the venue, means of transportation, etc.
Furthermore, I exempt from any legal, civil or criminal responsibilities the organizers of the
Championships, its directors, as well as any person, company, or entity related to the event (sponsors,
public and private entities).
I authorize the organizers of the event to use images, photos and the names of our competitors and
other members of our delegation (as considered necessary) for the sport activities and publications of
karate, related to the event, without any monetary compensation.
