Support of the School District of Beloit Referendum
Greater Beloit Economic Development Corporation (GBEDC) announced
today that it has signed a resolution to support the 2012 School District of
Beloit Referendum.
With a unanimous vote at our quarterly board meeting earlier today, it is
with great pleasure that we support the School District on this initiative.
This referendum will not only allow the School District to position itself to
be competitive, but it will allow the City of Beloit to have an economic edge
above surrounding schools.
Joe Stadelman, GBEDC Board Chair stated, “Through the Board’s
unanimous support of the resolution, the Board is continuing our long-
standing and very active involvement in the area school districts, including
the Beloit Schools. The quality of the Beloit area’s education and school
facilities is one of the top recruitment tools we have in bringing new
companies and people to our region.”
The Greater Beloit Economic Development Corporation is a public/private
investor-based non-profit organization that fosters economic development in
the Greater Beloit area. The GBEDC was officially organized in April 2005
as a result of the merger of the Beloit Economic Advisory Council and the
Beloit Economic Development Corporation. This powerful non-profit
organization propels competitive and prosperous growth throughout the
region including Beloit, South Beloit, Town of Beloit, and Town of Turtle.
The GBEDC works with companies that are interested in investing in the
community and retaining or creating new jobs. The GBEDC focuses on
establishing an environment that encourages existing companies to remain
and expand while attracting new businesses to the Stateline area.
