Yes, There is a Difference!

•God made them male & female–Genesis 1:27

•Woman as a “helper suitable”–Genesis 2:18

•Given different roles–Genesis 3:16, 19

“God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”

1 Corinthians 11:14-15“Does not even nature itself teach you

that if a man has long hair, it is a dishonor to him, 15 but if a woman has long hair, it is a glory to her? For her

hair is given to her for a covering.”

“Then the Lord God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him

a helper suitable for him.”

“To the woman He said, "I will greatly multiply Your pain in childbirth, In pain you will bring forth children; Yet your desire will be for your husband, And he

will rule over you.”

v.19 “By the sweat of your face You will eat bread, Till you return to the ground, Because from it you were taken; For you are dust, And to dust you shall return.”

Contrast Between Two Women

•A “strange woman”–Proverbs 7:6-27

•A “virtuous woman”–Proverbs 31:10-31

“And behold, a woman comes to meet him, Dressed as a harlot and

cunning of heart. 11 She is boisterous and rebellious, Her feet

do not remain at home;”

Genesis 38:14,15“So she removed her widow's garments and

covered herself with a veil, and wrapped herself, and sat in the gateway of Enaim,

which is on the road to Timnah; for she saw that Shelah had grown up, and she had not been given to him as a wife. 15 When Judah saw her, he thought she was a harlot, for she

had covered her face.”

1 Peter 3:3,4“Your adornment must not be merely external

—braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses; 4 but let it be

the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet

spirit, which is precious in the sight of God.”

Proverbs 31:30“Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, But a woman who fears the

Lord, she shall be praised.”

1 Timothy 2:9,10 “Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves

with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments, 10 but rather by

means of good works, as is proper for women making a claim to godliness.”

“Now, my daughter, do not fear. I will do for you whatever you ask, for all my people in

the city know that you are a woman of excellence.” Ruth 3:11

“just as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, and you have become her children if

you do what is right without being frightened by any fear.”

1 Peter 3:3,4“Your adornment must not be merely

The Role of Woman

•A “Help Meet” for man•In submission to man

–1 Timothy 2:11

•Marry, bear children, guide the house–1 Timothy 5:14

“God created woman for a purpose, to fill a special need; not as a competitor, but

as a 'helper suited to him.' She is to be a complement to him.”

“Each supplies characteristics and qualities to help bring out the best in the other. Women have greater potential for

influence in this role than any other.”

“A woman must quietly receive instruction with entire submissiveness.”

1 Peter 3:4“but let it be the hidden person of the heart,

with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of

God.”

1 Timothy 2:12“But I do not allow a woman to teach or

exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet.”

“For it was Adam who was first created, and then Eve. 14 And it was not Adam

who was deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression.” 13,14

Titus 2:3‑5“Older women likewise are to be reverent in

their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, 4 so that they may encourage the

young women to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 to be sensible, pure, workers

at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be

dishonored.”

“Therefore, I want younger widows to get married, bear children, keep house,

and give the enemy no occasion for reproach;”
