PastchampionshipshavelaunchedthecareersoffutureglobalstarssuchasOlympicchampionsHaileGebrselassieofEthiopiaandCarolinaKluftofSweden.AlsoamongthegraduatesarereigningOlympicchampionsKerronClement(USA,400mhurdles)andConselsusKipruto(Kenya,3000msteeplechase).

SothemediaattendingthechampionshipsinTamperewillhavethechancetowitnessthearrivalofthenextgenerationofathleteswhomaygoontosuccessatseniorlevelandtoreporttheirdeedstoathleticsfansaroundtheworld.

TheWorldU20Championshipshavegrownenormouslyinthelastthreedecadestobecomethekeyeventlinkinginternationaljuniorandseniorcompetitioninoursport.

Tamperewillhostsome1700juniorathletesfrom170countriesatwhatisnowalargereventthantheinauguralseniorworldchampionshipsheldinHelsinkiin1983,where1300athletesfrom154athletescompeted.

Finlandhasarichhistoryinoursport,soitisentirelyfittingthatitwillhosttheeventthatwillintroducetotheworldthenextgenerationofchampions.

Tamperehasalsoputsustainabilityattheheartofitsorganisation,choosingtouseFinland’shighqualitytapwaterratherthanplasticwaterbottles,employinggreenenergyatthestadiumandaimingtoproduceacar-freechampionships.IhopefutureIAAFchampionshipswillfollowthisexample.

The Photographers’ Briefing is mandatory for ALL accredited photographers.

Distributionofthephotobibswilltakeplaceatthistimeandno-gozones,accessareasandthecirculationthroughthestadiumwillbeexplained.

PhotobibswillbedistributedonlyinexchangeofanIDoradepositequivalentto20€toensuretheyarereturnedtoIAAFattheendofthecompetition.

TherewillbelockersintheMediaCentreforthestorageofcamerasandequipment.Thereisalimitednumberoflockersavailable.
