10 Benefits of Mobile Device

Management

Mobile device management (MDM) is an industry term for the administration of

mobile devices, such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, and desktop computers.

MDM is usually implemented with the use of a third party product that has

management features for part icular vendors of mobi le devices.

What is Mobile Device

Management? (MDM)

1. Manage the Entire Mobile Lifecycle

MDM allows you to

control and securely

manage all mobile

devices in your

organization throughout

the entire lifecycle,

including deploying,

securing, monitoring,

managing, supporting,

and retiring.

2. Support Company and

Employee-Owned Devices

Regardless of whether devices are owned by the company or its

employees, IT organizations need the same visibility and control of

mobile devices connecting to the network and accessing sensitive

data. However, different policies need to be implemented for

personal devices.

By integrating MDM with other enterprise

systems, you can improve security. MDM

enables you to push consistent password

policies that mandate password use,

complexity requirements, changes, and

lockouts across all devices.

3. Increase Security with Enterprise

Integration

4. Minimize Data Loss

Limit access to sensitive data based on user roles and the

compliance status of their devices. You can ensure only the

devices that have valid security certificates and the latest

antimalware software have access to the network.

5. Prove Compliance with

Industry Standards

Many industries struggle with meeting regulatory

requirements—with MDM you not only comply with industry

rules, but you can also easily prove it.

6. Increase the Scale of

Mobile Deployments

Without MDM, it would be impossible for companies

with more than a few employees to manage all of

their mobile devices. Managing hundreds of

different devices successfully, for hundreds of

employees throughout your organization just isn’t

possible without MDM.

7. Manage Complexity Across

Locations and Groups

If you don’t have an MDM

solution, managing different

policies across multiple user

groups and geographies is a

nightmare. With MDM you can

easily apply the correct

policies to user devices,

based on defined criteria such

as their roles, group

memberships, and/or

geographic location, to name

a few examples.

8. Reduce IT Costs by Automating

Processes

Many tasks which were previously manual can be automated. Things like

provisioning a new device and configuring standard settings can be done without

anyone taking time out of their day!

9. Streamline Deployment of

Enterprise AppsWith a strong MDM

solution deploying

enterprise apps,

including custom-

developed apps and

approved external

apps, can be

automated. An

enterprise app catalog

can provide users with

easy self-service

access to the apps

they need.

10. Secure Distribution and

Access to Sensitive Documents

Access to sensitive

documents can be

controlled, logged, and,

if necessary, revoked or

remotely erased. This

helps to eliminate

unauthorized access

and data loss if a device

is lost or stolen.
