Melvin , Carolyn and Angel Sturgeon enjoyed a nice dinner last Saturday evening at El Mazatlan in Cave City after going to Bob Hunt Funeral Home to view the body of Birdie Adwell. Tina Higdon threaded Bertha Hogan’s needle last Thursday before taking her to the Post Office , Dr. Williams office and to visit James Paige. They had a nice visit with James . He had recently been in the hospital. His wife Noma and their daughter Angela were working at Cave City Christain Church in the clothes closet. Tina then took Bertha to visit Ellis at NHC Health Care . Tony Hogan brought the t-shirts to Bertha at the nursing home that Joann London had when she was running for Barren County Clerk. Bertha helped Ellis with his lunch. They had a real- ly nice visit . Shirley Reece and her granddaughter Aly- vea Skeeters picked her up at 3pm and took her home . They visited a long time . Bertha finished two quilts while watching television. Bertha Hogan worked on quilts last Friday morn- ing. She didn’t have a way to visit Ellis . She worked all day at her house. She also finished two quilts and walked to Ellis’s Owen Street Apartment where a big tree was being trimmed. Bertha went with the tree trimmers to Ellis’s farm and showed them where to put the brush. Nelda then took her home . David Smith came by later . He and Bertha went to the bank to get his pay for cut- ting the tree up. Edith Hartman , Donna Jones and her friend came from Louisville last Satur- day . They visited at Ber- tha’s awhile. Bertha then went with them to pick Do- ris Hunt up at t Peggy Bass and Bobby Logsdon’s. They all then went to Wa- termill Restaurant . They were there a long time be- fore going to the 31W Flea Market and Bolin’s Fruit Market. Edith , Donna and her friend got things at Bolin’s . They then went to Tori’s Consignment be- fore taking Doris back to Peggy and Bobby’s. They visited there awhile . Edith , Doris and her friend left for Louisville after tak- ing Bertha home. Bertha rested awhile. She got sev- eral calls so she got up. She then pulled several weeds in her yard. She finished another quilt that evening before Greg Higdon and family arrived from Louis- ville. Bel-Bel Hester came with them also. Bertha Hogan is sorry about the death of Birdie Adwell. Greg Higdon took Bel- Bel Hester and family to church and Sunday School last Sunday after taking Bertha to Bob Hunt Funer- al Home to view the body of Birdie Adwell. Greg cut Bertha’s grass , weedeated and sprayed the yard for weeds after church. Bonnie Higdon got everyone lunch at Long John Silver’s after church. Greg and Brandon Higdon took Bertha to visit Ellis at NHC Health Care after lunch. Greg and fam- ily then had to get back to Louisville to do some work. Bertha visited with Ellis a long time before Tony Ho- gan took her home . Bertha worked in her garage fixing up things for other people and her recycling after din- ner . She also got several things to be taken to Ellis’s apartment before he comes home . Bertha’s friend Virginia Williams of Cali- fornia called. They talked a long time before Bertha went to bed at midnight. Bertha Hogan started working packing up more things to be taken to El- lis’s after breakfast last Monday. She filled up sev- eral boxes. Bertha also did some mending , hemmed six dish towels and did laundry. Gary Hogan then took her to the Cave City Lions Club Meeting at City Hall. She did several odd jobs that evening when she got home . Bertha Hogan got calls from her sister Edith Hart- man of Louisville and from Debbie Ford of Louisville last Tuesday. Betty Stur- geon brought lunch to Ber- tha , picked up coke tops from Bertha for Kathy O’ Bryan and put her recycling with Bertha’s so Gary Ho- gan could pick it up. Bertha then redid her bathroom closet , cut rug material and packed a box of things for the Cave City Cham- ber of Commerce Annual Auction.Bertha then rested awhile . Roger Smith came by and took boxes of things to Ellis’s apartment for her . Dotty and William Smith then took Bertha to the Modern Woodman’s dinner at Pizza Hut. Bertha cut up two sheets for quilts that evening , started two rugs and put pictures in albums before going to bed . Bertha Hogan tore up lots of material for quilts after breakfast last Wednes- day. Wally Bau came and took her to see Gary Ho- gan’s greenhouse and plant beds before taking her to Ellis’s apartment that he is going to install air condi- tioners in. Bertha did lots of work at the apartment. Roger Smith then took her home . She rested awhile. Betty Sturgeon then came . She and Bertha went to Save A Lot to get grocer- ies for Ellis’s apartment. Roger Smith helped them carry the groceries in and put them away. Betty then took Bertha to the post office before taking her home . Betty brought Bertha some re- ally good banana pudding that she had made . Bertha started setting a quilt to- gether that evening and got over half of it finished. Sherry and Chance Goldsmith , Beverly , Jason , Haliegh and Logan Poole visited Dorothy Martin. Dorothy Martin and Beverly Poole attended Marjory Borden Yates ‘s funeral services at Patton Funeral Home in Park City. Easter is near and this would make a wonderful dessert but you could put your own twist on it. Instead of the 2 bottles of red food coloring, you could divide the batter and dye it pastel colors then swirl it together be- fore baking. You could also tint the frosting if you wished. Red VelVet CheeseCake Crust: 1 1/2 cups chocolate graham cracker crumbs 1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted 1 tbsp granulated sugar Filling: 3 (8-ounce) packages cream cheese, softened 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar 4 large eggs, lightly beaten 3 tbsps unsweetened cocoa 1 cup sour cream 1/2 cup whole buttermilk 2 tsps vanilla extract 1 tsp distilled white vinegar 2 (1-ounce) bottles red food coloring Frosting: 1 (3-ounce) package cream cheese, softened 1/4 cup butter or margarine, softened 2 cups powdered sugar 1 tsp vanilla extract Crust - Stir together graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and 1 tablespoon granulated sugar, press mix- ture into bottom of a 9-inch springform or straight sided pan. Filling - Beat 3 (8-ounce) packages cream cheese and 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar 1 minute. Add eggs and next 6 ingredients, mixing on low speed just until completely combined. Pour batter into prepared crust. Bake at 325° for 10 minutes, reduce heat to 300°, and bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until center is firm. Run knife along outer edge of cheesecake. Turn oven off. Let cheesecake stand in oven 30 minutes. Remove cheesecake from oven; cool in pan on a wire rack 30 minutes. Cover and chill 8 hours. Frosting - Beat 1 (3-ounce) package cream cheese and 1/4 cup butter at medium speed until smooth, gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla, beating until smooth. Spread evenly over top of cheesecake. On average, one American dies every 39 seconds of cardiovas- cular disease or disorder of the heart and blood vessels. Early detection of life threatening heart disor- ders and other diseases is possible through the use of Echocardiography procedures performed within hospitals, outpa- tient centers and physi- cians’ offices. While these tests are helpful, there are many facets that contribute to an accurate diagnosis based on Echo- cardiography testing. The skill of Echocardiography sonographer performing the examination, the type of equipment used, the background and knowl- edge of the interpreting physician and quality assurance measures are each critical to quality of patient testing. Echocardiography ac- creditation by the IAC means that Glasgow Heart and Vascular has undergone a thorough review of its operational and technical components by a panel of experts. This is a very rich cheesecake that imitates a classic fa-vorite. Easter is near and this would make a wonderful dessert but you could put your own twist on it.
