I N S I D E T H I S I S S U E :Today is October 9th, and with an
October 1st deadline, we are very concerned
about the number of conference registrations
that have been received to date. PLEASE,
EVERYONE confirm by email your plans
to attend the VFA/VFIC conference on
Saturday, October 19th. Please let us know
any Woodmen members who can attend, or
chapters that are sponsoring "delegates" to
be in attendance. Hopefully there are a large
number of registration forms already in the
mail!
We are really counting on you all to
help us achieve our goal of 100 attendees at
the banquet, as this is needed to help ensure
the success of the conference. So far, there
are very few registered; however, there is
still time to rally and get those registrations
in. I am optimistic that we will get them
soon with your help. Now as for a Charity Golf Outing
Update. IF the chapters and players that
supported us last year attend again, as well

With you through LIFEas newcomers that have registered, we are poise

I don't have confirmation from all the
chapters that helped sponsor teams last year and
that's where I can use your help. If you plan onplaying and/or know for sure that your chapter i
sponsoring a team, please confirm by email so
that I can update the list. Additionally if you
know of other individuals who could play,
businesses who want to put in a team, or
business that could be hole sponsors, please get
that to me as well. The proceeds are certainly for
a good cause and most everyone can get behind
supporting our Veterans.Just in case you need it, I have attached
the Registration packet which includes the golfinformation. The success of this conference and
of the State Chapters of the VFA and VAFIC
depend on YOU! Thank you for your support

At Woodmen's National Convention they introduced some great
tools for Chapters called CARE Packages.
Community Activity Resource Examples(for Consistent And Repeatable Effectiveness)
These are ideas and information about simple but effective programs and community outreach eventsthat you can conduct. These packages truly walk you and your chapters through the projects step by step.
Please remember that these are just a few examples that the Chapters can utilize. These are not the only
projects that can be done - these are just more ideas. Remember your Chapters do not have to do all of these
CARE Packages. As time rolls along there will be many more CARE Packages added to help assist you and your
Chapters in maintaining it's relevancy.
To gain access to all of the CARE Packages I have included a link to my dropbox account where you can
download and print any or all that you wish. (Please note: these are very colorful files and will take up a lot of
ink. My suggestion is to download these files on a thumb drive and take them to a print center and print all orthe ones your local Chapters would like to conduct.) Here is the link to the dropbox documents:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/g95lvxwj2ssn8d3/_IjnKL_S19
I will be conducting 4 Video Conferences on these CARE Packages (well also review the 5 star fraternal
challenge program). I wanted you to all have these packages to review before your chapter planning meeting.
Please remember these events are to help generate new leads which will help your local Field Representative,
the chapter, the state and Woodmen of the World. Please remember that your Chapter calendar can be
modified until October 28 on www.myfraternalweb.org, and still receive full points for the 5 star fraternal
challenge.
I will be holding these video conferences on the following dates. Please have your local Chapters attend
with you.
1: October 8, 2013 @ 6:00 PM - 7:15 PM
2: October 14, 2013 @ 6:00 PM - 7:15 PM

Get your Money!!! Dont forget the Matching Funds DEADLINE is October 28
2013. Dont leave any money at the Home Office - you earned it, so use it. Have you looked to see how your 5 Star Fraternal Challenge points are standin
up? Most of the chapters need an awards banquet or presentation of at least 5
awards in 2013. This is a mandatory requirement. So don't wait until December!
Does your Chapter have a Facebook page? If not contact Sheri or me and we can help you get one.
Remember every point you earn in the 5 Star Fraternal Challenge = $1 additional matching funds next yea
Have you filled the 3 Chapter Web positions? If not please make sure that they are filled on this years
calendar. These are important positions to your Chapters future success.
State wide Calendar dates will be entered onto your Chapters Calendar from the State Office.
This year, we will be holding Fraternal Summits. Please plan to attend.

Fraternal 3 Month
Outlook
Have you had your Chapter Planning meeting yet ? Well if
you have not, don't worry!! October is a perfect month of the year to have a planning meeting. Some helpful hints
you want to consider for a successful planning meeting.
1: Make sure your local field representative is present !
2: Have some food at the planning session! Have a cake and ice cream planning meeting! We all Love CAKE!
3: Remember to visit my drop box links on page 2, download the 5 star fraternal challenge book, and download any
Care Package your chapter wants to consider to utilize in 2014.
4: Invite your Community Outreach Director or your Membership Activities Director to help plan.
5: Have an OPEN MIND to all IDEAS ! Give a door prize to the member who volunteers to head up a new
Community Outreach Event and/or CARE Package.
6: Plan at least one meeting on your Calendar that is a grow membership night. Ask your members bring at leas
one friend to the meeting who is not a Woodmen member. Have your Field Representative conduct a
presentation about the benefits of becoming a Woodmen member. Give door prizes for attendance, and a
prize to the member who brings the most guests to the meeting.
7: Be sure to include events that are MANDATORY for the 5 Star Fraternal Challenge Program: Annual 2015
Calendar planning session and Election of Officers.
8: Attend one of the CARE Package Video conference to gain knowledge on these new programs.
