Responsible For TrainingAnything else is a cop-out.
2. Determine Training
NeedsWhat skills, knowledge, and behaviors do your
employees need to do their jobs?
3. Get Buy-InIt’s not always easy but employees will be more receptive when they
understand the need for training.
4. Have A Clear GoalWhat should they be able to do at the end of the
training?
5. Conduct Realistic
TrainingTraining must develop and reinforce job-specific
skills and behaviors.
6. Timing Is ImportantTraining shouldn’t come too early or too late for the skills and
knowledge to be useful.
7. Time Is ImportantTrain for understanding and proficiency, not for
time.
8. Be ConsistentMake training an ongoing process, not an
intermittent one.
9. Use CBT SparinglyIf your training is just “checking the box” then why
are you doing it?
10. Assess The ResultsIf the amount of money you spent is your only metric,
you’re doing it wrong.
