Hi, my name is Ashley Green.
I’m not the usual traditional type of mentalist. I usemy intuition to create a psychic-like experience for
my audience. I typically perform at weddings, corporate events, and private parties.
Towards the end of February 2020 I quit my day
job to pursue performing full time, and I canhonestly say it's the best, and most rewarding thing
ever. My aim for the future is to be the go-toentertainer for wedding and corporate
entertainment in my county.
Hi - I'm Aidan! I'm a mentalist based in the UK and I use aninventive blend of traditional magic & mentalismmethods alongside genuine psychology. I perform atprivate/corporate events and weddings and lovewriting and headlining my public stage shows. At the end of February 2020, I decided to step awayfrom my full-time job and move into a part-time roleso that I could work on improving my entertainmentbusiness. My big aim for the future is to tour the UK(and the world) with my own solo stage shows.

Keep It SimpleDon't overcomplicate the methods or the tricks that you'reperforming because they don't matter. Your job is to entertainpeople. Make it easy for your audience to follow and focus onhaving fun and enjoying yourself with your audience.
Slow Down!Give your magic a chance to breathe. Stop rushing through asmany tricks as you possibly can and focus on making lesstricks into more magical experiences. Be present with youraudience and get to know them better - you'll thank us later.
Believe In YourselfHave the confidence to get out there and perform for realpeople. Your tricks will impress them so make sure that youbelieve in yourself. Audiences can pick up on your bodylanguage and know how you're feeling straight away so besure to give them a strong and confident impression.
"The magic happens in the spectators mind...Let it sink in. That's where the real magic lies" -Dynamo (In Interview With G Clarke from Ellusionist)
4 We had the opportunity to meet and talk to the legend that isUri Geller at the Blackpool Magic Convention 2020 andsomething he said was 'Be someone special. People like toknow special people'. Be Interesting
Find other people that share your passion both online and inperson and talk to them. Online forums and social mediagroups can be a brilliant way of learning, sharing ideas andgetting feedback. Magic Clubs are great way of meeting otherperformers that might be able to mentor you whilst you'regetting started and learning more.

6Study StagecraftCommit to learning about wider techniques that can help youimprove your performances. Study breathing techniques tohelp reduce anxiety before approaching a group. Researchconfident and open body language and then apply this to yourperformances. Find vocal exercises to improve your overallvocal quality and to prevent you from wearing out your voicewhile you're performing for an extended amount of time.

7Understand Your CharacterWe could happily talk a lot about Character Developmentbecause it is so important and will really improve yourmentalism. Ask yourself about your back-story. How did youget into mentalism? How do you read minds? Also think aboutwhat other interests you have outside of mentalism and bringthose into your character. Remember - BE INTERESTING!
8Don't Copy Other PerformersDon't try to copy what other performers are doing. Justbecause you like them or because they got great reactions, you shouldn't try to imitate them. The world doesn't WANT orNEED any copycats - We're not tribute acts. Being unique willset you miles apart from others because people will strive tosee something that they haven't seen before.
9Keep LearningNever. Stop. Learning. Explore new plots, methods, tricks andpresentations. All of this knowledge will help you findsolutions to problems and will give you an ever-growingopportunity to develop new material. Look at other performers you enjoy watching and considerwhat you like about them, what you don't like and find waysto incorporate these features into your own tricks andperformances (But don't copy!) Not everyone can create their own material, especially whenthey're starting out so don't worry, there are plenty of tricksout there. Find out what you like and adapt it to fit yourcharacter and your audiences.
How did the audience respond to the tricks? What did you enjoy when performing? What didn't you enjoy when performing? What changes could you make to fix what you didn'tenjoy?
We both do this all the time and it has been one of the biggestturning points in improving our performances. Firstly, plan formistakes. Find as many areas in your routines that themethods could let you down and prepare a backup methodjust in case. This will give you complete confidence in yourtricks so you won't freak out when a mistake is made. After each of your performances take the time to reflect andask yourself questions like:
If the situation arises, try to record any live performances withan audience. You can then watch the footage back in yourown time and analyse everything about that performance.
Get out there and perform! It's as simple as that. The more you perform, the better youwill get. Try to find somewhere that you can performcomfortably without any expectations. For example, you couldgo and perform to strangers in a local coffee shop (just makesure that it's okay with the coffee shop first) Don't forget - have fun and enjoy yourself!
