  • All educators should have a personal professional development plan and actively participate in professional development activities and opportunities. Central to any personal professional development plan should be planned professional reading to keep abreast of trends, issues, and best practices. The need for a personal professional development plan is emphasized by the South Carolina ADEPT Performance Standards for all certified personnel. Building-level library media specialists and district library media supervisors/ coordinators are encouraged to use this list of 100 Suggested Titles as a resource when identifying books for updating the professional collection in the library media center(s) and for personal professional development reading. This list is updated annually and posted on the School Library Media Services web page For questions or additional information regarding this list of suggested professional development books, please contact Martha Alewine ([email protected]), Consultant for School Library Media Services, South Carolina Department of Education.
