The Internet of Things is a network of physical objects fitted with sensors and connected to the internet.Working together they collect, exchange and act on the data they measure.

How does IoT work?

Devices usually connect with the network through RFID, NFC or wifi.

Each device has a unique ID, so it can be addressed or tracked.

It’s predicted that by 2020 there will be 21 billion devices on the network. (Gartner)

Why might IoT be important?

By acting on real data in real time, the IoT promises improved efficiency, greater accuracy, prediction and prevention, with wide economic benefits in fields such as:

Health care, home automation, smart cities, transport, and the environment.
