Preamble:

Bhaskaracharya Institute of Space Applications and Geo-informatics (BISAG) is

at present registered as society under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 and working

under the aegis of Department of Science and Technology, Government of Gujarat.

located at Gandhinagar. Its goverming body is chaired by the Chief Secretary of

Government of Gujarat. Over the past ten years, BISAG has evolved into a centre of

excellence, where research and innovations are combined with the requirements of

different users. It acted asa value added service provider, a technology developer and

as a facilitator for providing direct benefits of space technologies to the grass root level

functions.

To provide the benefits of knowledge and skills acquired by the BISAG at National

Level, a proposal was under consideration to elevate the BISAG as a National Institute.

A detailed proposal was also sent to Ministry of Electronics and IT, Government of

India by the BISAG vide its letter dated 4.8.2018.

This matter was also under active consideration of the State Government and was

put up before the cabinet. The cabinet has also approved the proposaB in its meeting

dated 12.2.2020.

The matter was under active consideration at the competent level of Government

of India. The Government of India has agreed to the proposal and vide its letter dated

13.4.2020 requested to transfer the assets and iabilities of BISAG to Ministry of

Electronics and IT, Government of India.

Resolution:

In view of above details and after careful consideration the State Government is

pleased to declare BISAG, Gandhinagar as BISAG(N) with effect from 1June,2020

and transfer the management, control and administration along with its all assets and

iabilities to Ministry of Elecronics and IT (MeitY), Government of India. The terms

and conditions of elevation of BISAG as BISAG(N) would be finalised and issued at

the time of execution of the MOU between Government of Gujarat and BISAG(N)

under administrative control of Ministry of Electronics and IT, Government of India.

All expenditure related to BISAG shall be borne by Ministry of Electronics and IT,

Government of India with effect from 1st June,2020.
