Integrity management applies to all
processes along the value chain, including
relationships with other companies. It
plays a critically important role in day-
to-day operations and spans the entire
asset lifecycle. Xodus uses an integrated
management system to apply technical,
operational and organisational solutions
to reduce risk, improve safety, minimise
environmental releases and improve asset
performance while reducing costs. Our
independence can enhance your credibility;
at the same time we can integrate with your
organisation to provide practical support.
Xodus helps organisations in the oil and gas
and petrochemical industries to establish
and maintain integrity management systems.
Combining our technical capabilities with
our broad range of skills and expertise,
and using resources available from our
offices worldwide, we can embed integrity
management into entire organisations,
specific departments or individual projects.
At the project level, we can provide support
from the design phase. This allows integrity
threats to be identified and resolved from
the start of a development when they are
easier and cheaper to deal with and allows
effective integrity management to be
performed throughout the operational life of
the asset and into life extension.
Versatility
Listening closely to the requirements of our
customers, Xodus tailors the delivery of
integrity support by providing services and
personnel that are a precise fit. For some
clients that means drawing on support
from Xodus personnel across the entire
range of our services. Others choose to call
on selected capabilities or even selected
individuals. Whatever the arrangement, we
work hard to manage interfaces effectively
and deliver the optimum result.
As a global operation, Xodus recognises
that in the Americas, Europe, Middle
East, West Africa and Asia Pacific there
are wide and varied regulations, regional
requirements and specific laws, as well as
differing environments onshore and offshore.
Our service can be tailored to meet the
regulations specific to your facility g
Integrity – a process, not an eventEffective integrity management establishes that people, processes, plant and systems are in place and that an asset is fit-for-purpose over the whole of its lifecycle. If this is achieved, personnel safety, environmental protection and production continuity can be maintained consistently.

Potential failures that could endanger
the health and safety of personnel,
compromise the safe operation of the plant
or damage the environment are prevented.
It also allows barriers to be managed and
risks to be reduced to a level as low as
reasonably practicable. Xodus uses an
integrity management framework that
considers people, processes, plant and
systems, collectively working towards a
common objective with our clients – to
implement long-term company strategies
and processes that prevent any breach of
integrity in the asset g
Integrity Management FrameworkAn integrity management framework allows integrity threats to be identified and effective mitigation measures to be put in place throughout the operating life of an asset.
› Philosophy – a high level statement of
commitment to integrity management
› Strategy – system rationalisation,
boundaries of equipment and plant,
risk based methodology, monitoring
strategies and technology applications
› Plans – inspection and monitoring plans
in the context of operational activities
› Procedures – inspection procedures and
written schemes of examination detailing
method and acceptance criteria g
Integrity Management SystemsXodus assists clients in creating integrity management systems based on a suite of documents that have been proven to ingrain integrity management into the culture of the organisation:
05
No single TIA element can stand alone
without the others. All must be in place,
collectively providing visibility of the
technical integrity status including any
threats to technical integrity, with the means
available through established processes to
enable effective management and control.
Xodus offers independent technical
integrity assurance activities including
technical support, audits, reviews and
studies. Collectively, these activities provide
assurance where processes and practices
are satisfactory, and visibility where there
is opportunity for improvement. Successful
application of TIA allows our clients to
manage their asset integrity effectively and
supports the operations and maintenance
functions throughout the installation lifecycle.
Technical gap analysis
With the focus on the organisation’s
Asset Integrity Management System

The purpose of a subsea integrity
management system is to provide a
demonstrable, auditable system for
the management of operating integrity
throughout the life of each subsea asset.
Assets are considered as a system with
sub-divisions including the wellheads,
trees, subsea modules (PLETs, PLEMs,
Terminations, HFLs and EFLs), flowlines,
pipelines, risers, flexjoints and umbilicals.
The implemented systems developed by
Xodus include the inspection, monitoring
and testing methods adopted for the
purposes of the subject asset, as well as to
define the baseline and periodic inspection,
monitoring and testing requirements
for each equipment type. Inspection,
monitoring and testing activities generate
up-to-date information with regard to the
condition of the production, transportation
and processing facilities. Xodus also
develops methodologies to process and
interpret this data so the asset can be
operated safely and efficiently, fitness
for service can be assessed objectively,
integrity can be managed prudently and
lifetime expectations can be met g
For pipelines transporting hazardous
substances, the consequences of poor
integrity management can be catastrophic
and could affect the resident workforce at
associated installations, the general public
in near proximity, and the environment.
Pipeline integrity management is therefore
an obvious priority for USDOT-PHMSA,
the Health & Safety Executive and global
pipeline operators.
Pipelines are subject to a range of
degradation mechanisms from both
internal and external sources. The relative
significance of the degradation will depend
upon factors such as the fluid(s) being
transported (including any contaminants),
the external environment, operating
parameters, materials of construction
and so on. The progressive deterioration
of assets such as pipelines is referred
to as ‘ageing’. Pipelines can also fail
through damage mechanisms that are
not age-related, for example, accidental
overpressure or dropped object damage.
All potential pipeline threats need to be
identified and assessed by operators
otherwise their pipelines may be at risk
of failure. Xodus develops programmes
that firstly identify the specific threats to
the integrity of the subject pipeline, then
assesses the potential consequences
and matches inspection and surveillance
methodologies accordingly g

FEED and EPIC stages
At the early stages of a project, Xodus
provides invaluable design input to ensure
that materials, vessel and pipework
geometry, isolations and coatings
are optimised with future inspection
requirements in mind – a result of our
hands-on understanding of in-service
inspection requirements.
We devise strategies covering data
acquisition and equipment Risk Based
Inspection (RBI), taking into account
available Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)
technologies to maximise Non-Invasive
Inspection (NII). This minimises the costs
associated with these processes. Accurate
data from day one is essential to the long-
term delivery of integrity management.
We carry out baseline and continuous
inspection and data management –
managing work packs, reports, results
and RBI updates. Crucially, we support
our clients by analysing data as well as
populating client specified database tools.
We develop written schemes of
examination, future labour requirements,
required isolations, trades and next
inspection due dates so that procedures are
established and easily assimilated into your
day-to-day operations.
Risk-based inspection
Working closely with our client, Xodus
Group can tailor the RBI methodology
to ensure individual requirements for
pipework, pressure vessels, pipelines,
structures, tanks, relief valves, Pressure
Safety Valves (PSVs) and flexible hose
