ONE FORM PER CHILD INSTRUCTORSBETTY CHEUNG is the librarian and media specialist at UFS. She graduated from Villanova University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and then recieved her Master of Education from Holy Family University. She views the use of technology in education as a valuable tool and thus enjoys finding and incorporating new technologies into her lessons. GINA FREDERICK is owner of Vanderlely Landscaping, specializing in ecological landscape design. Gina earned a BA in art from Bennington College. The use of natural materials and creation of outdoor sculpture installations which she developed at Bennington evolved into community-centered gardens and youth art programs during graduate studies at Tyler School of Art where she earned her MA. JANE LATIES is the Anthony Class teacher. She has a degree in elementary education from the American University with a minor in Jewish Studies. Jane started her own catering business and was a caterer and personal chef for three years.JOE NOWOSIELSKI is the Executive Producer of creativeTHEATRE. He began acting in 1986 and after doing regional and children’s theatre for five years, began producing children’s theatre at the Riverfront Dinner Theatre in Philadelphia. MICHAEL PERAGALLO is the UFS Middle School General Music teacher. He has a master’s degree from Marywood University in Musical Education and is currently an instrumental music teacher at The Conservatory of Music and Dance in Worcester, PA and Bach to Rock in Wayne, PA. JAMEY REESE is an artist, PAFA alumna and Yogini provacateur well-versed in multiple yogic schools and certified through MOTO. She teaches children tips for quieting the mind through yoga games that increase their ability to sit still, increasing their concentration and improving their sense of calmness. BROOKE SPRUNGER is a UFS alumna with a BA in Theatre from Eastern Mennonite University and an MA in Applied Theatre from the City University of New York. Her area of expertise (applied theatre) involves using theater for education, conflict transformation, community development, social justice, and other concerns that go beyond just entertainment.

Soccer season is here! This year, 3rd grade students are welcome to join the team. They will practice with the team and are encouraged to cheer on their teammates at games. 4-8th grade players will participate in games. Please fill out a soccer form, available at the Front Office. You must have a physical form completed and turned in before starting.
JENNA NOEL is the Penn Class teacher at UFS. She has played soccer her entire life, coached as an adult, and is excited for the season. As a coach, her goal is to teach players the skills of the game, while having fun.

YogaMONDAYS SEPTEMBER 11 - NOVEMBER 13GRADES: PREK-3TIME/FEE: 3:15-4:15; $100 INSTRUCTOR: JAMEY REESE
The class uses techniques designed especially for children; integrating playful yoga poses inspired by animals, plants, and constellations. Partner poses like holding hands in tree pose, breathing exercises, and nourishing relaxation techniques sprinkled with music, language, books, and props engage the “whole child.”

Our version of Alice in Wonderland is presented in the style of the “theatre of the absurd.” Alice finds herself falling down the rabbit hole, and from there tries desperately to get back home. In our production we have multiple Alice’s, plenty of mad tea party guests, and of course her royal highness the queen of hearts. The thing to remember is that everyone in wonderland is quite mad, and quite funny!

Learn to play guitar in a group setting as an individual guitarist as well as a member of a guitar ensemble. In this introductory class, students will be begin to reading standard music notation and tablature for the guitar, correct playing technique and posture, playing and reading guitar chord diagrams, tuning the guitar, plectrum and fingerstyle playing, fretboard logic and theory, and simple composition on the guitar. Students will need a guitar (preferably acoustic) with a case.

We often think of lines and facial expressions in theatre, however; the body is just as important as the voice, if not more so! This class will use movement and play to explore the role of the whole body in theatre and performance. Participants’ creativity will have full reign as they learn to use their whole selves to create theatre in a fun, low-pressure environment. No prior experience necessary. Come ready to move and groove!

Join us in the garden this fall for harvesting, planting, and seed collecting. Learn about the importance of native plants, compost, and organic gardening. When the weather cools, we will concentrate on indoor crafts and activities related to gardening, ecology and native plants. Space limited.
