    PRECAUTIONS

The KM-3650W has two Power Saving Modes. The Modes areWarm Sleep, the other isPower Save. In Warm Sleep Mode, the machine will return to ready as soon as any key is

pressed on the Operation Panel, or a print job is received. In Power Save Mode, the Controllerwill shut down completely. This will cause a blank display. The backlight on the display willremain ON.

A user may not understand that the machine is in Power Save Modebecause there is nodisplay. If you press a button on the Operation Panel the machine will reboot the Controller. The display will show the Controller BIOS information and then go back to a blank screen forone or two minutes while the system restarts.

The BIOS display and return to a blank screen may confuse a user and cause them toturn the machine off during the boot process. This can cause the Control ler Hard Driveto become corrupted. The Controller may not be able to restart after this. It can be onlybe repaired by replacing or re-imaging the Hard Drive. Hard Drives can be ordered fromthe Parts Center.

We suggest that if your customer complains about a blank display, you disable the Power SaveMode. To do this, press the Menu Key, next press the key next to Service Mode. On thePassword Screen enter 10871087 and press Enter. You will now see the Warm SleepandPower Savemode settings on the right side of the screen. Change the Power Save settingfrom Enableto Disable. You can leave the Warm Sleep Mode enabled. In that mode the userwill see a message on the display and the machine will wake up immediately when accessed.

We are investigating a change to eliminate the blank display and provide better end userinformation.
