MET 107 Mathcad – Homework #10
Beam Reactions and Deformations using Vectors and Arrays
Duplicate the results of the two prior Excel spreadsheets related to generating a table of Beam Reactions and Deformations. Text in red is not required nor are screen captures of the dialog boxes. For the following Beam Reaction problem, include the Beam Reaction Diagram and text in black. Make sure Title, Description, Input and Calculations are shown.
You will be using the input data set from the Excel spreadsheet, not the Input shown below! Example Output Beam Reactions Table (using original input):

A 1-D array has addresses similar to Array_Namei. (row only) A 2-D array has addresses similar to Array_Namei,k (row, column)
Excel refers to locations by column, row!
Note: Ra and Rb; format to 0 decimal places, no trailing 0, no display of row indicies.

Example Output Deformation Problem (case 1 data set from Excel only): Hint: Make sure you include the proper units for area in your calculations!
The rest of the assignment is left up to the student. Critical Hint: When calculating Area, use four different formulas with the area hard-coded (ie .1 in
2) and the column
number hard coded (ie aj,1); one formula for each column. In other words, your range variable will alter the row, the column will be hard coded into the address. Only one range variable is required to load array a. The vector and array output should be formatted to appear as shown (note column/row label display as well as the number of decimal places). Your output will have actual values displayed.
You MUST load vector P before attempting to load Array A. You MUST load vector P using a “looping” procedure (range variable)

Summary Sheet (this format using custom header as before):
Note: you will include screen captures from Excel and Mathcad (roughly the same size and horizontally aligned) so it is readable.
Results: Beam Deflections Excel Mathcad
Note Alignment!
Results: Deformation Excel Mathcad
Note any discrepancies here:
To locate screen capture: Double click image, under Layout Tab select Tight Crop/resize and move as is appropriate
You will be using the 5 meter long beam data set!
You will be using the E=30x106 psi, L=30 Data Set!
