As such, the Equity Report concludes with a series of initial recommendations and contains several requests for public feedback to improve continued efforts to examine the City’s work through an equity lens." The report features information on demographics, economic well-being, housing, community and natural resources, education and workforce development, public safety and community health, and findings and recommendations. Community Partner Spotlight: Parent University PU is hoping to find students who would volunteer with them on providing activities for youth that attend with their parents (while the parents are in the workshops) - along the lines of art projects and other engaging activities. For the fall session, they will have 25 parents, who typically come from Burlington's New American population. The fall program runs Oct. 22- Dec. 20, M- Th from 3:30-5pm at CP Smith School. The coordinator is hoping to find students who are able to commit to at least one day per week (realizing that our semester ends earlier than their program). Contact Sydney Hinckley for more information. Champlain College Representatives attend UN University's Regional Center of Expertise Meeting of the Americas From September 22-25, 2019, Dr. Valerie Esposito and Dr. Christina Erickson represented Champlain College at the RCE Meeting of the Americas , hosted by the Greater Burlington Sustainability Education Network , of which Champlain College is a member. This meeting brought together delegates from North, Central and South America (from Venezuela to Saskatchewan, Canada) to discuss the UN's Sustainable Development Goals, Education for Sustainability, and in particular Human Health & the Environment. For more, see this WCAX clip featuring Jen Cirillo from Shelburne Farms. Missed Monday's workshop? Check out the slides by clicking on the image or here . 10th Annual Trash Bash Results On October 9th, we had our 10th annual Trash Bash Waste Sort in the IDX Student Center at Champlain College. We sorted trash into recyclables, food waste/liquids (compost), batteries (e- waste), and single-use coffee cups. We found that roughly 41.4% of items (by weight) placed into the trash were not trash items . See the full results on our blog. Green Revolving Fund - Next Proposal deadline is November 1, 2019 What is the GRF?
