Just a word to acknowledge the Bids for Kidsevent in early October that was strongly sup-ported by several RMJC members, both in at-tendance, active bidding on auction items, andwho also donated many wonderful auctionitems for the cause. All this, of course, was toraise money for the Adaptive Rehabilitationprogram (handicapped sports) for Children’sHospital and for the Rite of Passage programs,Ridge View Academy, and the Betty MarlerCenter. Although we don’t yet know how muchwas raised, there were 160 people there for afun evening and the bidding was fast and furi-ous. From RMJC Brent McGibbon donated aplane ride over Denver; Steve Kennedy donat-ed a magnificent picture of the Crystal RiverMill near Marble; Gary George donated one ofhis car appraisals; and Teresa Ross donated agreat bottle of wine. All these and a greatmany more items attracted serious bidding and100% of the money raised including admissiontickets goes to the charities. If you weren’table to attend this year, please consider joiningus next year because in addition to a greatcause it is a wonderful and fun evening out!

Please look on page 17 at the official ballot foryour 2017 slate of RMJC Board candidates. The election will be held at our November 8general meeting at Piccolo’s; please attend soyour voice can be counted in determining nextyear’s Board. On September 24th, Steve and Deanie attended the JaguarOwners Association North Texas’s concours in Dallas. At the2014 RMJC Concours in Breckenridge, Alan and Arlene Bar-clay offered a free attendance to their concours and Deanietook them up on it.

Friday night was a great cocktail party, we got to see lots ofold friends that we have met at past AGMs and other events. The Dallas club held their concours in Old Town Carrollton onthe square. There were 35 Jaguars in attendance, the oldestwas a 1954 XK 140 coupe and the newest was Jaguar’s2017 SVO/R, 200 mph, 600hp, four-wheel drive Coupe brought by the Park Place Jaguar dealership inPlano. Oh, SVO/R stands for Special Vehicle Operations, the “R” is for the Supercharged V8. Jaguarshortened it to “SVR”.

There were a few E-Types, several sedans and a great line-up of XK8 Jaguars. There was even an XK8“Batmobile” and an XK8 with an aftermarket rear seat cover with headrests; cool looking. Too bad Jag-uar did not think of it.

Deanie did help with scoring but I got out of judging and was able to take lots of pictures of beautifulJaguars. Their awards dinner was at the hotel where we were staying. Deanie got a 99.97 with her F-Type, so much for that club and their hundred point cars.

They host a great concours. RMJC members should consider going down sometime; It’s only twelveand a half hours away (with Deanie’s driving). After Dallas, we figured we would hop over to Memphisand see Graceland as it’s only another 8 hours away.

For you “Elvis” fans, Graceland is a cool place to go. Its in Memphis,TN on Elvis Presley Blvd. When you first get there, you go past his twoairplanes into the ticket office. They offer a number of ticket optionsfrom $30 to $80. We took the $45 each tour which gave us each aniPad and ear phones for a self guided tour.

Graceland is divided into two parts, one on eachside of Elvis Presley Blvd. The cars, planes anda number of other displays are on one side ofElvis Presley Blvd while Graceland Mansion andother exhibits are up the hill on the other side.

We got there at 8:30 in the morning and since we were late getting there, we gotbooked on the 10:30 house tour. That was fine as it gave us a chance to lookaround the car museum, planes and other exhibits.

Then we got on the bus to tour the mansion, and what a Mansion it is. We got tosee the downstairs and basement area but not the upstairs bedroom area whichis off limits to everyone. So, with the iPad, it takes you, and 50 of your closest friends, through a roomby room tour of the mansion.

Collector Car Council of Colorado, IncMinutes of Meeting, October 5, 2016

The meeting was held at the Lincoln Technical Institute, 11194 W. 45th Ave., Denver CO.

The meeting was called to order at 7:25 pm by President Dick Thompson. Officers in attendancewere Dick Thompson, president; Tom Mansfield, 1st vice president; Samantha Baker, 2nd vice presi-dent; Dick Fritz, secretary; and Tom Kay, treasurer. 31 member clubs were represented.

Political Committee: Leo Boyle reminded everyone that the purpose of the Political Committee do-nations is to assure that legislators are aware of our concerns that affect the car collecting hobby, negatively or positively. There may be no donations made before the elections as we can later rec-ognize who will be on the committees that concern us, and legislators will still need funds to reducecampaign debts after the elections. Leo noted that the Legislative Blue Book is going out in the mailright now and he recommended that everyone read it as it objectively summarizes the ballot propo-sitions and proposed amendments.

The Council will seek legislation in 2017 to eliminate or modify the requirement to have a front li-cense plate on vehicles that never had provision for mounting a license in front. We recognize thatthere will be opposition from law enforcement agencies. However, street rods, temporary-plated ve-hicles, dealer cars, and motorcycles do not have to have front plates, so there are some precedents. We expect that there will have to be some concessions such as limitation to specific vehicles and/orpaying a fee and showing a special decal on the windshield.
